Eliot's POV

We all piled into Hardison's van and went to the Brew Pub. Amy stared out the window the entire time. I couldn't help but wonder what she was thinking. There were a few people in the pub eating dinner, including Shawn and his family. As we walked by their table, Shawn smiled at Amy and she blushed and smiled back. What was happening? I directed her up the stairs and into the living room. I texted her mom and said we needed to Skype with her. We soon had a video call on the main screen.

"Hey, how's it going?" she asked us.

"Good," I said, "but we need to tell her."

"Eliot, are you sure?"

"She deserves to know." Chelsea sighed.

"Fine. Sweetie, you may want to sit down." Amy sat in a chair and waited.

"Amelia Spencer. Your mom is actually your aunt. You are my daughter."

"What?" she asked. "You have to be kidding!"

"No. Your real mother and I were very stupid in high school, and one day she told me she was pregnant. I made plans to be the dad you deserved, but as soon as you were born, she stuck you in an orphanage without me knowing. Chelsea found out and called me. Since I still wasn't an adult, she offered to adopt you. I was determined to be a father to you, so I agreed. She took you and, since she was married, she didn't have to answer too many questions." Amy's face was expressionless.

"So... you are my real dad. My real mom went behind your back and tossed me into the system," she said as if she were trying to accept it. She looked at the ground and sighed. Did I just do something wrong?

"Sweetie," my sister said, "are you okay?" Amy nodded and looked up at me. Tears were running down her expressionless face.

"Did I do something wrong?" I asked her.

"Everything makes sense now. You were there when I learned to walk, when I said my first words, you taught me to ride a bike, you were like another father. Now I know why you were always concerned about me and why you call me 'your kid'."

"Kiddo, I never wanted her to put you in an orphanage. If I didn't want responsibility for you, I would have made her get an abortion."

"I believe you. I'm just having a hard time grasping this."

"I understand," I said.

Amelia's POV

Eliot was my dad. "I don't think I'll be able to call you 'dad' just yet. Not until I get used to calling you my uncle."

"I thought you were looking forward to seeing me."

"I wasn't told I was coming here until after she talked to you," I explained. Eliot nodded in understanding. We ended the Skype call and I left the room without another word. I went straight downstairs to talk to Shawn.

"Hey, can I talk to you for a second?" I asked him. He nodded and left his parents at the table to follow me through the restaurant. I led him to the staircase and we sat down.

"What's up?"

"Eliot isn't my uncle. He's really my dad." Shawn went pale.

"What does that mean, then?"

"That means it's going to be much harder than we thought to get him onboard with the whole 'you and I' thing."

"Oh, well," he said nervously, "then it's a good thing that kiss is a part of the play. We'd have an excuse for it." I laughed and looked at my hands. Was he being serious or was he expressing a desire?
