3 years later- Fourth Year

"You HAVE to start doing your Charms homework!" I chide Nightlock, one of my two sworn enemies at Hogwarts that I have been forced to tutor in not only Charms but also History of Magic and Herbology. I guess being a teacher's pet really doesn't help much, does it? "I DO do my homework!" replies Nightlock defiantly. "Then why has your Charms average dropped down from a 69 to a 38?" I fire back, and Nightlock glares at me. "How did you know that, anyway?" He asks suspiciously, and I just grin. "I am the all-knower..."

As Nightlock continues to glare at me for always forcing him to make better grades in classes, (the tutoring gives each the tutor and the person being tutored 50 house points but only if the average by the end of the term is at least an 85 {very low for a Ravenclaw}) when I hear something behind me. I look behind me and I see that it's not something, but someone. "Hey, Hart," I grin, looking up at him and ignoring Nightlock's evil teasing eyes. "Hey, Ching," he answers, sliding into the seat next to me. Ignoring Nightlock's evil teasing expression again, I smile. "I can get you away from this evil being," he whispers very softly in my ear. "Please do," I whisper back subtly. "Well, Ching, we have a lot of studying to do." Hart announces loudly. "But I can't fail Charms," Nightlock whines back. "My parents will kill me!" He says this in the most annoying voice I could ever imagine. "Well maybe you could start doing your homework," I fire back, and leave the library hand in hand with my best friend. Nothing more.

The next morning in the Dining Hall

"Hey Kane," I say absentmindedly as I take a seat next to him and across from Mandy. "Mind if I sit here?" Asks a voice that I know immediately as Hart. "Yeah, sure," I answer, scooting over a little bit so that he can sit next to me. Hart slides into the seat to my left and joins in to Kane and Mandy's debate about whether or not Mandrakes can kill you. After Hart joins in to the debate, I have a new found interest in what Kane and Mandy are talking about, so I tune in. "Their screams are fatal to anyone who hears them!" Mandy practically screams at Kane. "But how did I sneak a Mandrake into Charms first year?" Kane counters calmly, hardly acknowledging the possibility that he might not win. (A/N {I know I'm not supposed to do this in the middle of a chapter but had to clear something up} Please reread Chapter 6; I fixed some things and made it so that it was more clear how the whole "Mandrake" stuff worked. If you still don't understand how that worked, please comment it or otherwise contact me. Onward with the story!!!) "Oh, Kane," I interject, rolling my eyes. "You know perfectly well that that Mandrake had not one, but two protective spells keeping it from screaming and killing someone. It not only had a Silencio charm, but also a protective barrier preventing anyone from trying to undo that Silencio charm! Oh yeah, and everyone had earmuffs! You were doing way too much to make that Mandrake safe!" I cross my arms and sit back down in my seat. Kane glares at me. "As I was SAYING, Mandrakes can't kill you- not if you have the right kind of protection." Kane smirks, and Mandy glares at him. "The question wasn't whether they can't kill you," Mandy finishes her argument. "The question was whether Mandrakes CAN. And, as you all know, Mandrakes can definitely kill a person, when needed." "Like now," I shoot, aiming my eyes at Kane. "OOOOHHHHHH! Get shrekd!" Hart backs me up, and Kane answers with a very lethal- looking face.

"I couldn't help but overhear your conversation," inputs a voice from behind me. "Oh, hey, Emma," I grin. "'Sup?" "Not much," she responds, twiddling her thumbs a bit. Even though Slytherin green and white looks entirely wrong at the Ravenclaw table, I can't help but feel bad for Emma. "Here," I pat the empty seat next to me to my right. "You can sit here if you want." Emma's face lights up as she takes a seat with the rest of us. She barely says a word as Mandy and Kane continue to debate with the occasional comment from Hart or Gwen and me jumping in only when needed, but the look on her face is something that I will never forget. Who knew taking one Slytherin in would feel so good?

The Next Day- About the Same Time, on the Way to the First Class of the Day

I push Kane into a wall, laughing. "Stop, stop! It's an untrue myth!" I know my face is on fire, but it's still a myth. I do NOT like William Patrick Hart! We. Are. Just. Friends! How come no one can ever just let friends be friends! Mandy jumps in, defending me. "She doesn't like him, okay? Just let it go!" "Yeah, Kane, let it go!" Gwen chimes in, and now it's my turn. I get up on my tippy toes and whisper in Kane's ear. "Oh, so I'm the one who has a crush?" Then I swiftly walk away.

I know the footsteps before I hear the voice. "Why are you running away like that?" Hart asks, catching up with me. "You know you have Charms next, and I have Herbology, right?" I answer, looking at my pocket watch. "Answer my question!" Hart persists. "You're going the opposite way! You're going to be late!" I respond. "Can't you just tell me?" Hart looks at me with puppy eyes. "Oh, here's Ms. Sprout's room!" I almost escape into the door when a hand grabs my arm. Darn it, so close. I turn back around. "Fine," I sigh. "They think we're a thing, okay?" I can see Hart's eyes light up, like he's either happy or surprise. Probably the latter. I roll my eyes and put my arm on Hart's shoulder. "Don't listen to what they think, okay? It really doesn't mean anything." And then I FINALLY get to go to Herbology.
