Chapter Three: The Aftermath

Celina is surprisingly quick for her height. She wants to win as bad as I do.

Throwing rapid punches and hard kicks, she almost has me beat. Celina is an above average fighter compared to others in the class. She also knows how to use her long limbs to her advantage.

Not letting her gain the upper hand, I move quick on my toes, punching and kicking her weak spots. I waste no time in bringing her to the ground. During the match, I let her tire herself out, knowing that fighting quickly without much thought, never ends well.

Pulling back her hair, as her neck becomes exposed for damage, I raise my slightly shaking hand. Just one final blow is needed. One final blow to move me up, to change my entire world and mindset. Celina does not move a muscle but stares straight at me. Her unwavering stare is a tornado full of emotions. Fear, anger, defeat, relief and finally happiness.

"Just end it already."

Her hoarse voice echoes inside the room, crashing against me and evoking a tsunami of feelings. The regret I feel for having to fulfill this challenge almost clouds my judgment, but the burning jealously overpowers it. The jealously of knowing that after this fatal event, Celina is free. Free to be whoever she dreams in another lifetime. Free to escape this never-ending misery that kills pieces of your your soul, your character. Obliterates the person you used to be. Someone who was innocent and carefree before having to face reality.

The teacher is yelling at me now. Yelling at his star student for prolonging Celina's inevitable death. Yelling at me to complete the deed. To show everyone that only the best, never gets taken down.

Watching the moment unfold, I know I'll never forget this. This event will change me forever. I do not know what the type of person who I will become after this. Who I will have to be for my survival.
