"Steven, I have a surprise for you!" Rose beckoned.
Steven got up with stars in his eyes.
"Did Lion Lickers suddenly become so unpopular that they stopped making them and suddenly bringing back Cookie Cats?"
"Close," Rose chuckled.
"Wha? How did you get these? I thought they stopped making them!"
"Well," Pearl began. "We heard that too."
"So we went out and stole a bunch!" Amethyst interrupted.
"Pearl and I paid for them." Rose said.
Steven took a bite of a cookie cat and his gem lit up. It was the light of a Rose Quartz gemstone. Steven was about to activate his powers.
"Quick, summon your weapon!" the gems pleaded.
"I don't know how!" Steven shouted anxiously.
"It's fading!! What do I do?! How do I make it come back?!"
"Calm down Steven, your powers will take time to develop." Rose said trying to calm him down.
"I don't understand why I have to wait so long for my powers to be used!" Steven exclaimed.
Rose looked at Pearl with a smile. Pearl had taken a long time before she had been able to use her weapon.
"Can one of you just explain to me how to summon a weapon?" Steven asked.
"I'll go first!" Pearl screeched excitedly.
"No, please. I wouldn't want you to confuse Steven with the talk about dancing and petals." Rose laughed politely.
Steven looked confused. Pearl looked embarrassed.
"Steven," Rose began, "You're universe is filled with marvellous lifeforms, filled with marvellous possibilities. You control your gem with whatever possibilities you can make yourself. Your weapon and powers are your possibilities. Being half-human makes even more possibilities for you. Who knows what kind of experiences you could bring to your world."
Steven looked at his mother with stars in his eyes. She was everything he looked up to. He had doubts about being a gem but Garnet, Amethyst , Pearl and Rose comforted him. He took a bite of his cookie cat and realised how much the cookie cat was like him. Half strawberry, half vanilla. Half gem, half human. He opened his eyes and stood stunned.
"Steven! That's a shield!" Pearl squealed.
Steven let his shield go. It flew across the room. Rose walked outside.
She saw a corrupted gem in the form of a centipede. She quickly summoned her weapon and it poofed. She caught the corrupted gem's gem and bubbled it into the temple. Pearl came outside.
"Rose, what's wrong?" Pearl asked.
"Nothing," Rose replied, "Just trying to make sure Steven is safe..."
