Adrien decided thinking about the near-kiss experience wasn't helping. He didn't know what to do. Should he visit her? Should he talk to her? Normally, on a day devoid of modelling and extracurricular activities, Adrien would surf the web, go out, do stuff. But today, his motivation for any of those activities was zero, the only thing he could even think about was visiting Marinette and apologizing. But was it really the best time? Adrien decided to contemplate it for a while. When Natalie notified Adrien his lunch was ready, he still wasn't sure. He knew he had to eventually... The sooner the better, right?

"I'm going out for a while, Natalie." Adrien said.

"Be back by seven. That's six hours." Natalie replied.

"Okay."

Adrien didn't want to waste Plagg's energy, so he walked. The weather was cooling down, and it was a relief for Adrien. There would be less photo shoots in an attempt to keep him from catching an illness.

When he arrived at the bakery, Adrien stepped into a side alley and behind a dumpster. "Claws Out!" He called, his ring turning black.

He swept his fingers across his vision, gaining a mask. Pulling his hands over his hair, his ears appeared, hair getting tousled in the process. His clothes changed to the familiar leather, and his tail sprung out. Without hesitation, Chat Noir launched himself up in the air to Marinette's balcony. He landed softly, unsure of what to do next. He could see Marinette through the doors. She was sketching again. Trying the handle, Chat found it was unlocked. Silly girl. He pushed the door open quietly and stepped inside her room, closing the door again.

He was silent a minute. "Marinette..." Chat said quietly.

Marinette didn't flinch. "Mari..." Chat said wearily.

"Back so soon, stray?" She asked, still sketching.

"Ha. Yeah." He said, scratching the back of his head.

"What's up?" Marinette asked, closing her sketchbook and turning around.

"Well." Chat stated simply.

The two locked eyes for a moment, Chat looking up with his head tilted down. Marinette sat straight backed. She opened her mouth and  closed it again, as though contemplating saying something. Chat lifted his chin as they continued to stare at each other. "I'm sor-"

"Let's forget about it, Chat Noir." Marinette said, cutting him off.

"Okay." Chat said, breaking the gaze.

Marinette turned back around, turning on her computer. She pulled up iTunes and turned on some music. Chat didn't really pay attention to the music. Marinette stood up and twirled over to her closet, looking for something. Finding it, she held it up to her body and turned around. She hid it behind her back and paused when she saw Chat. "You're still here?" She asked.

"Uh- I- um... Was I supposed to leave?" Chat asked, turning slightly towards the door.

"No, no. You can stay." Marinette said, stepping forward.

"So you are going to keep the stray." Chat smirked.

"Oh, shut up." Marinette said with good nature, turning back around and putting the article of clothing away.

They had settled easily into their balance again. Chat was relieved. He couldn't face Marinette in their real life if he hadn't resolved that. "What is this song?" Chat asked, listening to the music.

Won't you help to sing
These songs of freedom?

"Redemption Song." Marinette said, looking at Chat strangely.
