"How's Alex? How's he dealing with all this Mitch time?"

We had been watching "Superbad' and laughing hysterically. The question had come right after the movie was done. We had been on the couch just chilling and eating popcorn.

"Um, actually we broke up."

"What?! When? Why? Was it because of me?!"

"No, no! It happened maybe a month ago. It was kinda in the air when we were in Europe. We tried to make it work when he came to visit us but it just wasn't working. It felt off, almost forced. When we got back, we tried again. But his life just was filled with a lot of stuff that I knew nothing about. I hardly knew any of his friends when we went out and they would have inside jokes and stories, you know. They were nice, and Alex was great. But he felt it too. Our lives were just not overlapping enough."

"I'm sorry Scott. Why didn't you tell me before?"

"It was about the time your nightmares started coming back. You were either asleep, falling asleep or screaming. Didn't seem to be the right time."

"God, I'm pathetic. I suck as a friend."

"Yeah, Mitch, how rude to have some monster come into your life while I'm going through a break-up. Way to go loser."

I laughed. "Okay, okay, fine. Anyone I know on the tarmac?"

"Yeah, baby, you. It's always been you." Scott said as he wrapped his massive hand around my tiny waist and pulled me toward him. He moved his face toward mine, going in for a brutal kiss only to veer off to my neck and nuzzle it while tickling the heck out of me.

"Stop! Stop it! Scott!" I laughed. "God you're the pathetic one."

"Oh stop it. We both are and you know it."

"Yeah, we are perfectly pathetic for each other." I gave him a squeeze and went to the kitchen to make more popcorn while Scott looked for our second movie feature.
