Aster's POV
We finally returned from that hell of a dimension , but nobody was celebrating. Adrian, Echo, Jaden, even Zane didn't make it back! Jim was comforting a crying Hassleberry, Chazz comforted Syrus while keeping himself from tearing up as well, Atticus held his sister as they both cried, Axel held both Blair and Martin in comfort. Me or Jesse didn't cry mainly because we were still stunned by the news that was just given to us.
While everyone cried I felt a someone grab my arm and I turned to see Jesse looking at the ground beside us. "Follow me." I did. We walked to the lighthouse where Zane would usually stand, which made me tear up a bit. "Aster are you going back to the Pro leagues?" He asked me.
"Yeah what about you?" He hasn't looked at me since we returned. "Are you and the other transfers going back to your schools?"
He shook his head."We are going to ask Chancellor Sheppard if we can permanently stay here." He finally looked at me, but with a small smile, then turned his head to the ocean. "You know." He ran a hand through his teal hair. "I confessed to Jaden just before his duel with Yubel.
"What did he say." Yes I was curious to know.
"He returned them." He looked at me. "What about you and Zane?" My eyes widened and before I could say anything, he gave a small laugh. "While I've only been here for a month, I saw how you looked at him during our duel for Rainbow Dragon."
"You're an observative one ya know Jesse?" He smiled softly at me. "He confessed to me when we were searching for Jaden. Even though we confessed, we were focused on getting out of that dimension." My lip begun to quiver as tears begun to pool around my eyes. "I miss Zane so much Jesse."
Jesse held me in his arms as I wrapped mine around him. "I know what you mean Aster." His voice cracked with pain. "I miss Jaden." We both cried fro the first time since we returned fro the ones we loved. After what seemed like hours, we walked back to where the Red Dorm where everyone was currently surrounding, and I decided to tell everyone I needed to return to the Pro Leagues since I have the beginning of the season tournament tomorrow. Everyone gave me a hug or good luck in my match tomorrow as they promised to watch, then quietly I returned to my Yacht for the journey back at the city.
"ASTER WINS THE TOURNAMENT!"
I walked out of the arena with my usual mask of fake emotions as I signed autographs and took some pictures with them, though my mask begun to crumble when one of the fans mentioned Zane.
"Aster?" I turned to see my best friend/manager, Sartorius , walk up to me. "What's wrong?"
Tears flowed down my cheek, everyone became silent as they my silent tears for the first time. "Follow me." He walked with me to my dressing room as I ignored the whispers of everyone around me. When we arrived I turned to him. "You know what's wrong."
"While I am able to figure out what happened to you at the Dark World, I do not know what you're truly feeling on the inside." He motioned me to the couch in the room and we sat down as he held me for comfort."
"I miss him." He tightened his hold on me as I begun to tell him what happened between the two of us.
~Flashback~
After two days of searching for the others, Zane and I found a mansion when destroying some of the Supreme Kings minions. We looked in all the rooms to make sure it was clear, then we went to the master bedroom together not wanting to be separate. We both took off our jackets and attempted to sleep, but I couldn't because I was freezing in the sunless dimension.
"Aster are you alright?" I turned to see Zane currently facing me.
"I'm freezing."
He sighed and turned around to face the other side of the bed. I assumed he was just ignoring me so I turned as well, but soon I felt a shift on the bed and arms around me. "Am I warm enough?" I faced him once again to see a rare smile across his face as I nodded in response, then his face turned serious."There's something I've been meaning to tell you."
"What's wrong?" 'Wow his eyes are darker than I assumed'
He looked a bit nervous, which was of of character for him. "I've admired you since the first time we met, though we weren't on good terms." I gave him a sad gaze, but he shook his head. "The duelist I became wasn't because of you, but because I just wanted to win. I promise." I didn't feel any better, but I continued to listen. "I ended up discovering I have a heart condition so I'm trying to find the best candidate for my final duel."
"Zane! Why didn't you say any thing!" I sat up and so did he. "You can't be dueling if you have that!"
The older of us smiled as me. "This is what I want Aster.Don't try to stop me." I wanted to cry, but I couldn't." I'm telling you this because there is something important I've been meaning to tell you." I faced him with an even more confused look. "I love you. I loved you since the first time we dueled." My eyes widened in shock, so he took my moment of weakness to place a simple, yet, gentle kiss. When I didn't respond he looked a bit disappointed and sighed. "I'm going to the other room."
I panicked I grabbed his arm before he could stand. He looked at me confused as I held my head down. "You have no idea how long I've been wanting to hear that from you." I crawled onto his lap and I touched my forehead with his. "I've had my own share of feelings since I saw you help that one guy in the alley when I was searching for the card."He smiled and wrapped his arms around my waist while I wrapped mine around his broad shoulders. "I love you too." We both leaned in for another kiss, though it was soft at first, it became rougher more passionate. He licked my bottom lip for access, which I parted obediently and a soft moan escaped my lips when I felt his tongue explore my mouth. Once we parted, Zane begun to kiss me lightly on my neck, then I moaned once he bit me hard leaving me a mark. His hand trailed up my untucked shirt, but he suddenly stopped.
Before I can question him, he kissed my forehead. "Let's not do it in this dimension." I nodded and gave him a peck on his lips and climbed off him. Zane laid down and motioned me to follow, which I laid my head across his chest and tangled my legs with his. I ended up falling asleep to the rhythm of Zane's heartbeat.
~End of Flashback~
"When I lost to Adrian I was glad to see that Zane managed to escape with the others, but they told me and Jesse that both the ones we loved didn't return." I couldn't continue. Sartorius knew what happened after, so he just held me in comfort.
"Aster."
"Yeah?"
The fortune-teller looked at me with concern. "As your manger, and friend, I am going to let you take this year off so you can return to Academia."
I jumped from the couch. "What? Why?"
He stood up and placed a hand on my shoulder. "You clearly aren't focusing on your duels since you've been messing up on your strategies. That last duel was almost lost if you hadn't had that trap card. Your emotions are all over the place as well to the point that you knocked that third duelist out. I am doing this for your own good okay?"
I nodded and gave him a quick hug. "Thank you and sorry for everything that's been going on with me recently."
"It's fine and you're welcome, now go back on the helicopter to the school. I'll tell the Chancellor you will transfer as a last year with the other transfer students."
I nodded and walked out the door to the helicopter, ignoring the paparazzi as I made my way to Academia.
