Our Covenant

Pulling into the driveway I sat in my car and adjusted the rearview mirror so that I could see my reflection. The brisk weather was giving me the signs of fall arriving. Turning the engine off, leaving the key in the ignition, I began to stare at myself. My lipstick was smudged and my hair was not in the perfect pulled back ponytail I had this morning. Readjusting my phone buzzed. Still tending to my makeup I ignored it but it buzzed once more.

Grabbing my cell out of my vintage black quilted channel bag I received two text messages. In the mist of unlocking my phone I was receiving a phone call.

“Hello,”

“Yes my love are you coming in I know it’s getting cold out there I put on some tea for you.”

“Thank you baby yes I’m gathering my things now I’ll be right in.”

I stepped out of the car locked the door and opened the front door.
