“It’s bloody cold out,” I complained as we waited in line for the Ferris wheel.

“It’s not even that cold,” Jack teased and hit my arm. I flinched, but no one noticed.

“Here,” Sam shrugged off his jacket and slid it onto my shoulders. I smiled. I felt like my life was turning into the most stereotypical chick flick imaginable. Sam held my hand as we climbed onto the Ferris wheel.

I shivered as we reached the top, partially from the cold, partially from the butterflies in my stomach.  Heights weren’t exactly my best friend. Sam draped his arm around me and pulled me close. “You okay?”

I nodded. “Just cold.” I looked at him then, really looked at him. The afternoon sun was reflecting off his cheekbones, making it look like he was glowing. The corners of his eyes crinkled up when he smiled, and it made my heart melt. I couldn’t believe he was sitting next to me with his hand in mine.

We sat in silence as the wheel made another round. We were all the way back at the top again before Sam turned to look at me and noticed me staring. I blushed and looked away quickly, but he hooked a finger under my chin and turned me back to face him. “You really are amazing, Amy Rose.”

I blushed, but it was probably invisible under the wind burn on my cheeks. “I could say the same about you, Sam Pepper.”

He smiled and his eyes crinkled up. I couldn’t help but smile back. “Then why don’t we be amazing together?” he asked. “Amy, will you be my girlfriend?” he asked. He said it quickly, as if he hadn’t planned on it, it just happened before he could stop it. His eyes went wide.

I pinched myself. It was too good to be true, Sam Pepper just asked me to be his girlfriend. I leaned in and kissed him hard. I could feel him smiling, which made me realize I was smiling, too. “Of course I will.”

Sam rested his forehead against mine and grinned. “My amazing Amy Rose.”

The ride came to a stop all too soon. Sam didn’t let go of my hand. We were the first ones off, so we waited for the rest of them at the bottom. Marcus’ eyes immediately went to our interlocked fingers.

“Popped the question, have we?” Finn jabbed a finger into Sam’s side. Sam smiled and looked at the ground.

“What question?” Jack asked. His cricket eyes looked pleading.

I bit my lip. “Amy’s my girlfriend, now,” Sam explained. It was extremely awkward. Jack nodded and smiled.

“About time,” he chuckled. “Come on, I want to go skating.”

Sam pulled me after Jack, who was presumably leading us to the ice rink. “I don’t know how to skate,” I admitted.

Jack stopped dead in his tracks and turned to face me. He studied me for a moment before nodding, seemingly having reached a conclusion. “That’s no good. I’ll have to teach you.”

“I don’t have skates.”

Sam waved his hand, as if batting away my response. “I’ll rent you a pair,” he handed me a ten pound note and pushed me towards Jack.

Jack took my hand and ran towards the rink, leaving the others behind. I followed reluctantly, wanting to stay with Sam. I looked back and saw Sam smiling wide, his eyes crinkling up in the adorable way they do, like he had just won the lottery.

“Shit,” I cursed. “You’re a bloody awful teacher, Jack.”

Jack laughed and helped me up. “No, you just can’t stay on your feet. You’re making this way harder than it really is.” He smirked and took my hands. “Here,” he faced me and started skating backwards, pulling me along with him. He made sure I was steady before moving quicker, never letting go of my hands.
