The Other Potter

Prologue

*Severus Snape P.O.V*

I stumbled into the Potter's house in Godric's Hollow. The front door ajar and James Potter's lifeless body lying on the floor.
I climbed up the stairs, shaking, trembling and enter Harry's room.
Lily Potter lies dead in a heap next to Harry's crib. I glance at the boy, tears running down his young face. I let out a painful cry as I walk over to where Lily lies. I hold her body in my arms and try every spell I know to try and save her.
Harry starts crying behind me as I try another spell, but deep inside I know that she can't be saved.
Just as I am about to give up my wand glows sensing a form of life.
My heart skips a beat as I hope and pray that it's Lily's life that I have saved.
But I quickly realised that it wasn't.
Lily was not alive, but something inside her was.
The baby's heartbeat was weak as if it was dying, I knew it was.
I hear the rumble of a motorcycle outside. Hagrid was coming to save Harry.
But not the baby.
No one knew about the baby- no one alive at least.
I knew I had to take the baby to Dumbledore, he would save the childs life. I glance back at Harry, the lighting scar raw on his forehead.
Thinking fast I apparate into Dumbledore's office and rush towards him, Lily's body in my arms.
"Ah, Severus you caught me just in time- I was just about to go to the Dursley's-" Dumbledore stops as he sees me holding Lily. "Now Severus you know even I cannot save her-"
"But you can save the baby." I interrupt.
"A baby? Ah yes I can sense another among us. Here bring her to my desk." Dumbledore instructs. "We must do this quickly, I must meet with Minerva shortly as the boy is to arrive in Privet Drive shortly."
"Certainly Sir." I reply. The boy. The reason Lily was dead. The Dark Lord killed her because she was protecting Harry.
I scowl at the name as Dumbledore begins.
"The baby will be premature- three months at least," Dumbledore states sweeping his hands over Lily's body. "This procedure will be difficult, we must contact Poppy. Severus would you do the honours in apparating Lily's body down to the Hospital Wing? I will meet you there." Dumbledore disappears in an instant.
I lift Lily's limp body into my arms and apparate into the infirmary where Dumbledore awaits alongside Poppy Pomfrey.
"Bring her to me- lie her on the bed," Poppy sates gesturing to a nearby bed "quickly now."
Poppy proceeds to perform the procedure alongside Dumbledore and in short time Poppy is holding a baby girl in her arms. She rushes to clean the baby and proceeds to place her in a crib, meanwhile casting spells over the newborn child.
"She will need a guardian Severus," Dumbledore states as he approaches me, "The Dursley's have enough on their hands already with two toddlers, add a new born into the mix and chaos will be brought upon them... Especially since she's a witch." I listen and nod to what Dumbledore is saying.
"I will raise her Dumbledore- but only because she has no one else to go to."
"Very well Severus," Dumbledore agrees, "But she will also require a name... Will you do the honours?" he states as he walks over to the new born baby's crib. I join him and look down at the child.
"Lily," I state, "She shall be called Lily Potter."

Hope you liked the prologue of The Other Potter.
J.K Rowling "released information" stating that Lily Evans was pregnant and I included a picture at the top so you can see for yourself! I'm not sure if it's true or not, but I'm going to say it is for the sake of the story ;)
I don't know if it's even possible to save a baby from a dead persons body- but they're magical so what the hell.
