26| He Came Back

Naegi's Pov.

I opened my eyes because of the stench of the garbage surrounding me, it was really filthy, that's when I realised myself how lucky I was being able to be saved from the punishment.

"There might be a way out of here!"

With that positive outlook in life, I began to push the doors but I couldn't open it, then I sighed as I gave up on it and crouched on the floor:

"I guess it's not that simple, huh?"

I tried to find something to eat or to drink but no avail, I couldn't find one, so I looked up to where I fell.

"As long as I'm alive, there's no way that I'm giving up!"

After that yelling, I started to lay down while I used the newspapers as my blanket, maybe I should at least preserve what strength I have.

I closed my eyes as I drifted to sleep, I wouldn't give up... not now.

*Thud*

I heard something crashed as I shot up open, surprised that a garbage came down from above.

"That's a lot of trash," I interjected, then I saw something move from the midst of the trash.

"Calling me trash is pretty rude,"

"Kirigiri-san!"

I was surprised that she was here, she stood up and started dusting off her clothes that was damped by garbage.

"What are you doing here?"

"Isn't it obvious? I came all the way down here just to rescue you,"

Somehow, I felt relieved from what she just said, but then trailed off as I remembered something else.

"How is Misaki-san? Is she alright?"

"Yeah... I think she is,"

"What do you mean?"

She averted her gaze from me as there was a glint of sadness in her eyes, it somehow made me nervous.

"After your punishment, which have failed... she was in despair, then she suddenly disappeared before we even noticed that she was gone."

"W-Where could she be?"

"I don't know either, but I bet she's fine because she's still in the school grounds, anyways—you should eat first, we'll talk after that." She said as she handed me a bag of food and drinks as I began to gobble down.

'I wonder if Misaki-san is safe...' I thought as I was finished eating.

"In order to serve my own means, I abandoned you."

"That's okay, it's not your fault."

Silence filled us a bit as she began to continue our dialogue, I turned to her after she called my name.

"The person whose murder we were supposed to solve for this case wasn't supposed to be Ikusaba Mukuro, but it was supposed to be you."

"Me? Oh... so it wasn't a dream! You really did come to save me,"

"Yes, the mastermind wanted to frame me for your murder in order to have me executed, instead they decided to use a different corpse... you were also pointing out the peculiarities so that's why the mastermind wanted you out."

"So that's why Monokuma wanted to punish me without proof..."

"Anyways, let's go ahead and get out of this awful place."
