When I wake up, the sun had already risen and Scarlette was already getting ready for school. I check my phone. It says it is 7:30 which means I only have 15 minutes to get ready. I cursed under my breath because I will have to do my makeup in the car. This will not help me in the situation of I need all the help I can get to make me look average. I run to her bathroom and I brush my teeth and hair. I then change out of my penguin pants into black skinny jeans and trade my oversized mint shirt for a form fitting Fall Out Boy shirt. By now it is time to leave and Scarlette's older brother, Ryan, drives us to school.

I pull out my compact mirror and realize that I will probably poke myself in the eye with eyeliner or mascara so I decide to just put on mascara to reduce the pain factor. I didn't need to be crying this early in the day.

Ryan comments on my terrible makeup while I'm doing it. I just flick him off because I can and he deserves it.

"Hey no need to be rude Jade," he says like his comment before wasn't. I honestly hate him.

I begin to think about how my mom nor my dad has attempted to contact me. I wonder if anything bad happened to them. Before I get too deep into the scenario, Ryan tells us to get out of the car because we were there.

We could have left a little later than we did because I don't need to be in first period for ten minutes. I decide to go to the cafeteria to get a bite to eat. Scarlette follows but she doesn't get anything. She said she already ate. I wish she hadn't. Now I will look like even more of a heffer. I need food though.

I got a yogurt parfait with granola and I got a banana muffin. Hopefully this would fill me up.

Once we sit down I realize I only have five minutes to eat. With this knowledge I scarf my food and several people look at me weirdly. I want to say that it didn't bother me, but it did. I heard them whisper things like, "fatso," and, "blimp." I hated my school. But a boy I didn't recognize that was sitting across the table told them to," f*** off." I was a bit grateful. I wanted to ask the boy his name or at least tell him thanks but I could bring myself to it. I just blushed.

I tell Scarlette bye and then sprint to my first hour. I arrive just when the bell rings because my sprint is most people's jog. I don't like my first hour. Too many b*tchy girls and too many d**chebag guys. But the main reason was because my ex-best friend, Abigail, was in that class and my ex boyfriend/ her new boyfriend was as well.

The only good part about that class was the eye candy named Luke Hemmings. He was a nerd but he was a really cute nerd. Oh the things I would do to him.

"Jade Clair Finch!" Mrs.McFadden calls. I say here because that's what you do in roll.

She says," I know. We established that during roll. You obviously were not paying attention. Please join the class discussion. The next time I catch you daydreaming, you will owe me a detention!" I hear several chuckles from the back of the room and I get all blushy once again.

The class starts discussing God knows what and I try to at least look like I'm involved. After what seems like forever, the bell finally rings.

On my way to history, I accidentally bump into Abigail. I am suddenly struck with fear. She is what is known as," the queen bee." She also could torment many other people but she chose me in particular. This was mainly because we were best friends until," the incident." This incident, to explain it vaguely, consisted of her boyfriend kissing me at her own birthday party. Of course, she took it the other way around and made it her dying wish to make my life hell ever since. This was the reason Abigail got my (ex) boyfriend to cheat on me with her.

Luckily she didn't react to my clumsiness. I got off the hook and I was glad because she really could make my life a living hell.

When I finally made it to history I was delighted because Scarlette was in that class with me. I also saw the boy that defended me this morning. I saw that he didn't have the hoodie he had had on before. I could see he had on a good Charlotte shirt on which was one of my favorite bands. I also noticed his hazel eyes and rugged yet soft features. I saw his dimples  because he was always smiling. It was almost unnatural how much he was smiling. Almost like he was trying to hard to smile. I caught myself staring at the handsome boy that had no name.

At the end of class I decide to approach him. I was scared out of my wits.

"U-Um hi" I stuttered. Why am I such an idiot?

"Hi?" The smiling boy with no name replies. He says it as more of a question than a statement.

"I-I just wanted to thank you for standing up for me this morning." I shakily say

" umm no problem I guess. Those guys suck."

"True. I was wondering what your name was." I sound so creepy omg.

"Ashton. And you are?" His voice sounded so light hearted.

" it's Jade and can I ask you a question that is really none of my business?" My curiosity is making me sound weird.

      "Uhh sure......I guess."

" Why are you smiling all the time?" He thinks I'm weird j just know it.

After a moment, he replies,"It's my mask, it can hide so many things."

As soon as he said those nine words he turned his back and left.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

The rest of the day was pretty bland but I couldn't stop thinking about what Ashton said.

He was really mysterious. I want to find out what he meant.
