"Oh Father Gascoigne. May you have mercy..."

Father Gascoigne swings at Hunter, their axes clashing together. Gascoigne pulled out his Blunderbuss and shot at Hunter, pushing him back. Hunter regains footing and gives two powerful slashes. Gascoigne retaliated quickly, doing a massive damage on Hunter. He drops to his knees as he holds his wound. Gascoigne lets out a loud grunt and lowers his weapons.

"Ooh, what's that smell... The sweet blood, ooh, it sings to me! It's enough to make a man sick."

Gascoigne let out a faint breath, his body slowly forming into an unseemly beast. With a mighty roar, he lunges at Hunter, giving him huge gash on his chest, Hunter gasps, falling to his knees, he reaches into his pocket and pulls out an oil urn and a Molotov Cocktail, quickly tossing it at Gascoigne, who bursts into flames and fell to the ground, now lifeless. I ran to Hunter, holding him up as he takes in a blood vial.

"Are you alright Hunter? That was a really tough fight..."

"I thank you for your concern Miss (y/n).... I'll be up on my feet soon, just give me a few minutes to recover."

"I'm surprised that you survived from a fight like that.... though I did see you fight a huge beast before...."

"None can completely take me down, especially now that I have you by my side."

My cheeks instantly became red and I quickly looked away. There he goes again with his way of words. Even after a rough fight, he still maintains his cool. Hunter chuckles, petting my head, then moving his hand to my chin, making me face him.

"We're near the Oedon Chapel, where you'll be safe. Luckily with this key I found, we will be able to open the gate that leads to it."

"Sounds good, you ready to go yet?"

"Yes ma'am"

Hunter gets up with ease, picking up his axe and held my hand as we head towards the Oedon Chapel. When I had to go up the ladder, Hunter made sure to not watch me climb up, he said a view like that will make him  blush or possibly nosebleed, I simply giggled at the silly thought, he still remains to be a gentleman. Upon walking at the end of the stairs, Hunter opens the door, beyond it was the Oedon Chapel, many pots, lit candles and incense, maybe to repel the beasts away. Hunter lets out a deep breath, he's finally relaxing from always being aware of danger and the fighting.

"Here Miss (y/n) this is where you'll be safe from harm's way."

"W-where will you be going Hunter?"

"I must continue the hunt, the beasts never cease to diminish. I will do what I can to stop it..."

"B-but.....are you sure you'll be fine on your own?"

"Yes of course my dear... you have watched me fight through the beasts since the beginning. There's no need to worry."

"But I thought you said you fight well when I'm around."

"You are not wrong love. But, it was because the thought of you being safe made me stronger and wanted to ensure that you will longer witness such bloodshed... It surprises me that you do not fear me. Of all things..."

"You have been nothing but kind to me and so thoughtful that you'd risk your life for me. I wish I could repay for such bravery."

"Your safety and purity is more than enough. As you have seen, there is no trace of it whatsoever in this town. Being exposed to so much darkness and despair... can make a man go insane..."

Hunter looks down, his head held low. He took a deep breath and looks at me, his sky blue eyes had a sense of lonliness. Without a thought I hugged him in hopes of getting that lonliness to go away. Hunter wraps his arms around me and holds me tight.

"Thank you... (y/n)"
