Chapter 1: Long day

"Raven"
"Raven!"
"Raven!!!!!!!!, if u don't get up you'll be late"

I open my eyes to see my mom standing in front of my door.

"Raven get up I didn't feel like doing this on the last day of school" she said with a tired expression on her face

I didn't respond and turn over in my bed and try to fall back to sleep.

That didn't happen.

My mom grabs the blanket. I shake as the cold air hits my body and it try to grab for warmth only to feel air.

"Why must you be so cruel to me" I say not bothering to open my eyes

"Maybe if you would wake up in the morning you wouldn't have to suffer, know get up you have 30 minutes to be down for breakfast," she walks out of the room.

I yawn and stretch and finaly crawl out of bed. I walk to the bathroom and shower and brush my teeth. When I come out I feel more refreshed and relaxed. I throw on some grey jeans and a red sweater and grey boots. My hair is still wet from the showers so I put in a messy bun even though I hate it. When I walk down stairs for dinner everyone is already eating.

"Why are you wearing a sweater it's almost 80 degrees outside" my dad said staring at me like I have four eyes.

"I get cold easy" I say and sit at the table across form my little sister.

I grab some eggs and pancakes and start to dig into my breakfast. My parents start to talk about the days plans and I zone them out while I focus on the taste of my pancakes.

"So Mary how does it feel to have a sister who's almost a high schooler" I say to my
little sister.

"It's cool are you still gonna walk home with me from the bus stop" she asks in her sweet voice.

"You leave before me and get out after me so I don't see why not." I say eating more eggs. She smile and continues to eat her eggs.

"Mary your going to the first grade aren't you happy"asks my mom with a delighted expression" Mary smiles and nods her head.

"I'm happy we get to learn all new things" she saids with a even brighter smile.

When I finish my breakfast I grab my backpack and get ready to leave the house with Mary. We walk about a block to the bus stop and soon it pulls up. I get on after Mary and sit in my usual seat as the bus pulls off. The next stop a few more kids get on and I stair in anticipation as Ethan walls to my seat and sits next to me.

He's not just some random boy who just so happens to sits next to me on the bus. That doesn't even begin to describe him. He's smart, kind, and really funny. Not to mention how handsome he is with his brown hair and and green eyes, that fit his nice settle face just right. Any girl would feel luck to date such a nice guy. That's why I take the upmost measure in calling him my boyfriend, thought I don't feel worthy at times.

I sometimes don't see what he sees in me as I am. I don't consider myself to be ugly at all, I just don't feel as dazzling as him. I have blue eyes that he saids remind him of clear sparkling blue water. That apparently compliment my long black hair that even on my worst hair days he calls pretty. The conclusion I came to is that he was sick in the head and that keeps me sane when he compliments me, even in my worst moments.

"Hey Ray" he said flashing his dazzling smile.

"Hey" I say smiling back

"Aren't you happy it's the last day of school and where gonna be high schoolers"

I can't help but chuckle a little and nod my head at his excitement.

The bus pulls up to the school and I get off and wait for Mary to get off before turning to walk with Ethan. When we walk to the steps he kisses my cheek and goes off to his group of friend. I walk into the halls and walk into the bathroom. Which was a mistake.

As soon as I open the stall I see Kayla and her group of girls admiring themselves in the big mirror. I try to turn and walk away but the one girl sees me and tells Kayla.

"Well look what we have here, the crow has returned to her habitat" she said with a sneer on her face.

As it turn to walk away I run into a wall of people. Which is just want I need on my last day of school.

"I don't have time for you Kayla" I say not bothering to turn around. I try to push my way past her friends, which only lead to failure. So I turn around to face the witch that is Kayla.

"Aww look at the little crow, she's all alone just as all crows are." She saids laughing along with the rest of her group of girls.

"Actually Kayla crows hunt in groups, and ravens are the solo birds. But of course, you wouldn't know that cause although your head is big, it's filled with hot air. And instead of filling it with knowledge you fill it with slutty thoughts." I say not bothering to hide the hate in my voice.

Of course that wasn't the smartest thing to say because next thing I knew I was being jumped by a group of girls. But at the time I didn't care I just wanted to get through the last day. After the run in with Kayla the day went by pretty smoothly though I had a blackened eye and a few bruises but I've been through worse.

At the end of the day when the bell finaly rang I walked to the bus and say in my seat, I didn't bother looking at Ethan when he sat next to me.
"How was your-what happened to you" he asked trying to look at my face. I didn't turn around.

"I fell down and hit my eye on the way down" I say. It was a dumb lie but I didn't wanna talk about it.

"That must have been some fall, then again I'd be that hurt two if I fell from heaven" he said with a smug smile.

This time I laugh and can't help but look at him.

"Nope, you got it all wrong I got my biggest scars when I crawled my way up from hell" I say smiling back. We both laugh and he turns my face to get a better looks at the damage.

"I'm sorry Ray I shouldn't have left you alone" he looks at me with sad eyes that I couldn't bear to see.

"It's kk ravens are famous for being alone." I lay my head on his shoulder and he chuckles to himself.

"Do you want me to come to your house to help you clean up"

"No I have to watch Mary so you can't and my parents are taking us out for dinner to celebrate our graduation"

"Ok my parents may have the same plans for me so I'll talk to you later"

The bus pulls up to my stop and I get off and help Mary off. We walk home in silence and she kept starring at my eye.

"Mary it's okay I tripped and fell at school so don't worry" I give her hand a little squeeze of reassurance and she smiles at me.

When we get to the house I was in and set my bag on the ground and walk in to the kitchen to get me and Mary a snack

"Maryjane do you-" I stop mid sentence when I see a man standing in the dining room leaning against the counter.

"Who are you" I say backing away.

A/n: I hope you enjoyed the first chapter of my book. I'll try to have a new chapter up ever other week since their so long that way you dont have to worry about falling behind on a chapter.
