Chapter Two: Funeral
Anna's POV

"Oh really. If I'm dead, how am I able to wear these shoes?" I asked defiantly.

"You can interact with pretty much everything, if you're strong enough..." Bess frowned. "Not very many are... Strong..."

"Okay, okay, wait, I can interact with my family?"

Bess sighed. "Yes, I suppose so, but I wouldn't recommend it."

"Does it look like I fucking care what you 'recommend'?" I paused, shivering and grabbing my red coat.

I shrugged it over my shoulders, feeling comforted in the warmth.

Bess shot me a worried glance.

"What?" I asked, shoving my hands in the pockets.

Bess shook her head. "Nothing, nothing."

"Damn right," I muttered, glaring daggers at her.

"But I have to talk to my family! They're probably really sad! They have to know I'm okay," I protested.

Bess gave me a sad look. "Are you really okay though? You're a spirit that has some sort of unfinished business before you can leave and ascend or descend. Does that sound 'okay' to you?"

"Shut the fuck up," I muttered, looking to the side. But I had already made up my mind, and Bess couldn't stop me.

"Walking on Sunshine" started blasting through the house.

Hmm, my favorite song? Who could be playing that?

I looked at the clock.

3:01 pm.

My little sister Cassy was home from school!

I ran up the stairs. Bess yelled "wait! No! Stop!"

I ignored her, twisting and turning through the green-carpeted hallways towards Cassy's room.

"Cassy!" I yelled, running straight through the door.

Hey, running through things is easy!

I expected her to be sad, but nope! My little 14-year-old sister with plain blonde hair had blue wireless Boombox headphones on her ears. She was holding them and rocking her head to the beat, and dancing too.
