*ANNA'S POV*
"Puny demigod! You will never defeat me!" shouted Hyperion.
"I will!" I shouted back. He merely laughed.
"You will do no such thing. You are tiring as we speak."
Damn it, he's right. I thought.
"Die now, and I will spare your friends."
"No you won't!"
"If you give yourself up, daughter of Hecate, I swear on the Rive Styx that I will set them free."
"You swear?" I asked.
"I do." replied the Titan.
"Anna! Don't do it!" shouted Nico Di Angelo.
"I'm sorry Nico. I have to." I turned to face him. "Don't try to bring me back, understand? You guys will be set free. I'm doing this for you guys. So don't get yourself killed and have me die in vain. Got it?" I said.
Silent tears were pouring down Nico's face as he nodded.
I turned to the evil Titan and took a deep breath. "I'm ready." I said.
"Are you sure you want to die like this? You could die in battle. Die a hero's honorable death." the Titan taunted.
"Dying to save your friends is always an honorable way to die."
"Are you sure little demigod?"
"I'm positive. Do it."
"Wait! Anna before you die, please know that I.... I....... I-" I couldn't hear what Nico said next. His words were drowned out by the laughter of the Titan and an explosion in my ears.
I saw my death coming. The Titan clapped his hands together with the force of a sonic boom. Then everything around him was on fire. I wanted to close my eyes as I saw the wall of white and blue fire coming towards me, but I couldn't I stared transfixed as it rushed towards me.
When it finally it me it was hot. Yeah yeah I know what you're thinking. "Gee Anna, it's fire. Isn't it SUPPOSED to be hot?" And my answer is yes. But this was BURNING. It was hot, burning, awful pain. All I felt was heat and pain and heat and pain for what felt like forever until it just..... stopped. I felt nothing. Not hot, not cold, not warm, not cool. Not anything.
*NICO'S POV*
I saw that column of flame rushing to Anna, and couldn't do anything to stop it. I felt so powerless. Then it consumed her and she rose into the air like an angel. But then it went horribly wrong. She convulsed and shook, like she was having a seizure. She silently screamed and agony filled her face. I wanted to break the bonds that I had and run to her, to pull her down from that awful fir and turn it on Hyperion instead.
Then she stopped and fell to the ground, motionless.
"ANNA!" I screamed.
Hyperion turned to me and sneered. "Oh, how adorable. You care for her."
By this time I was trembling with rage. This just made him laugh even more.
"Let us down Hyperion. Anna died because you swore on the River Styx that you would let us go." said Percy.
"True enough son of Poseidon. You are free to go." Hyperion waved his hands and our bonds disappeared. Grover, Annabeth, Percy, Thalia, and Leah all stood up and massaged there sore joints. As for me, I ran to Anna to check her pulse. There was nothing there.
Hyperion turned and looked me square in the eye. "Don't try to bring her back son of Hades. That blasted daughter of Hecate died to save all of you. You will all die if you try to bring her back." And with that final warning Hyperion disappeared in a column of flame.
