Phoebe stood in front of the Pokèmon Center door. The sun was shining bright, and the warm air flooded through the door.

"Let's go on our way!" She happy marched out.

"Thanks Nurse Joy." I yawned.

"Do we really have to leave this early?" Lucas groaned, wiping his eyes.

"Come on, you two got plenty of sleep. I have something waiting in Floaroma Town, we really need to get going!" She skipped down the Jubalife streets. It was so early that only a few people walked on the cobblestone roads sipping their coffee and PokèJuice.

We made it to a small set of stairs. Phoebe jumped down. I had never seen her so eager. I know she wanted a Gracidea Flower, but this seemed like something more. We walked through a grassy area.

"Hey, man!" Lucas called to a boy training a Magikarp. He leaned over. "If you are patient and train real hard, it will pay off." He smiled. The boy looked back at him. The sun sparkled in his eyes. "Promise!" Lucas patted him on the shoulder.

"What did that mean?" I asked.

"Well, if he works hard at his training, that Magikarp might become a Gyrados." He smiled.

"How sweet." Phoebe smiled.

"Huh?" Lucas asked.

"Nothing!" She continued ahead. We eventually ended up at the entrance to a cave.

"I think that if we go this way..." I checked my Pokètch. "We will end up over there!" I pointed to the top of a big hill.

"Then let's head in!" Phoebe ran into the darkness.

"She sure is excited." Lucas sighed.

We walked in to see Phoebe stopped at a boulder. She turned around.

"Look at this thing. A rock. A big rock..." She stared blankly at us.

"I got this!" Lucas reached in his bag. "Go, Bidoof!" A fat brown pokèmon with big teeth popped out. I opened my Pokèdex.

"Bidoof, the plump mouse Pokèmon. It lives in groups by the water. It chews up boulders and trees around its nest with its incisors. A comparison revealed that Bidoof's front teeth grow at the same rate as Rattata's." The Pokèdex chimed.

"Use Rock Smash!" Bidoof jumped up and slammed it's teeth on the rock a few times. It burst into pebbles before our eyes. Phoebe shielded her eyes. The path opened up, revealing an opening.

The bright sun burned our eyes as we stepped out of the damp and dark cave. Whit picket fences surrounded the dirt path, and there we colorful wild flowers on the ground.

"We must be getting close!" Phoebe chimed.

"Wait!" I cried.

"What?" Lucas and Phoebe responded in unison.

"I saw something move!" I looked to my right.

"Bud! Bud!" The grass shook.

"Is that... A Pokèmon?" I asked. I took a step closer to see a small green Pokèmon jump out of the grass. It had a yellow face and resembled a flower bud. I went to grab my Pokèdex when it hopped away.

"Wait!" I cried. I grabbed Shinx's Pokèball and chased after it.

"Dawn!" Lucas cried.

"Come on, we've got to follow them!" Phoebe grabbed Lucas' arm and ran.

"Shinx, chase down this Pokèmon with me!" Shinx popped out of it's Pokèball and ran beside me.

Budew hopped until it was in a forest clearing. Surrounded by trees it panicked and curled up into a ball.

"Shinx, Tackle!" Shinx ran up to Budew and attacked. The wild Budew spewed water from it's head. "One more time, Shinx!" It ran up and attacked Budew. The Pokèmon was already worn out. It was weak.

Budew erupted a purple powder. "Run, Shinx! That's Poison Powder!" Shinx tried to run but couldn't escape. Shinx looked sickly, a purple strip ran across it's forehead.

"No!" I cried. I tightened my long red scarf. "It's now or never..." I reached for a Pokèball and threw it at  Budew. It was absorbed by a red light and shook. It shook again. It shook one more time.

Sparkles flew out of the center. I picked up the Pokèball.

"Alright!" I held it the Pokèball up.

"Wow, you caught it without even knowing what kind of Pokèmon it is?" Phoebe asked.

"Where is Lucas?" I asked, looking around.

Phoebe turned around. "He isn't here... Oh Arceus." She panicked.

"Should we go back to where we left him?" I asked.

"Couldn't hurt." Phoebe bit her lip. In the meantime, I pulled out my Pokèdex.

"Budew, the Bud Pokèmon. When it feels the sun's warm touch, it opens its bud to release pollen. It lives alongside clear pools." The Pokèdex explained.

"Look, he is over there!" Phoebe pointed. I put away my Pokèdex and ran to Lucas. He was standing by a Town Sign.

"There you are!" He cried and ran towards us.

"Thank goodness you are okay!" I cried.

"Did you catch it?" Lucas asked.

I grinned and held out my new Pokèball. He smiled.

"There are so many flowers over there." Phoebe looked into the distance.

"Do you think that's..." I asked.

"Floaroma Town. The Town of Flowers." Lucas finished. The sun was already setting.

"Why don't we go ahead?" I asked.

Phoebe pushed a tear from her eye. She ran into the flowers.
