I walked outside. The Twinleaf air was cool. It was just beginning to warm up. It was a nice and sunny day. I went to go get the mail when a Pelliper flew up to me and perched itself on the mailbox holding a letter. I adjusted my white hat and pushed my long blue hair out of my face.

It was from Brendan, my cousin from Hoenn. I opened it and read.

"Oh my god!" I screamed in my high but a little bit raspy voice. He had defeated the champion Steven and is the Hoenn Champion! He also sent some pictures with his pokèmon, my aunt, and his girlfriend May. I smiled. Then an idea struck.

I was old enough, but my mom, Johanna, never let me go on a pokèmon journey because it was too dangerous. Maybe this would change her mind. I ran into the house, almost tripping over my pink boots.

"Mom!" She was watching "Pokè News Now" on television.

"What dear?" Johanna turned her head.

"Mom! Brendan defeated the champion of the Hoenn Region! Isn't that cool?" I asked.

"Wow, good for him! It sure is, I will have to call his mom to congratulate them." She smiled and turned back to "Sinnoh Now!"

"So I was thinking..." I played with my bracelet and adjusted my long red scarf. "... I was wondering if... well... I could go and visit him?" I flinched, knowing her response. As always, it would be no.

"Well... I don't think you are ready..." She sighed. "You can be a little immature at times." She sighed.

"Are you kidding me?" I couldn't believe it! I ran upstairs to pack.

I put on a black tank top with a white undershirt and a pink mini skirt. I grabbed a small yellow duffle bag and filled it with clothes, a map, and a few other things. I headed downstairs to say goodbye to my mom.

"What? What are you doing?" Johanna was shocked.

"I am going on a journey. I am mature, and I'll prove it. Just watch me! I am going to get my first pokèmon, maybe I can battle Brendan one day, once I beat the Champion Cynthia!"

"Let's not get ahead of yourself. Honey, please think hard about this." She bit her nail.

"I have made up my mind. I am going to prove that I am ready." I picked up my bag.

"I love you, be sure to call sometimes!" My mom teared up a little bit.

"Love you too, and I will." I hugged her and headed out the door. My neighbor was walking out of town too.

"Barry!" I called.

"Dawn?" He asked. "What are you doing, leaving Twinleaf?" His voice was so annoying, and he spoke one hundred miles per minute.

"I'm getting my first pokèmon from Professor Rowan. Why are you so concerned?" I asked, taunting him.

"I'm getting one too. How about we head to Sandgem Town together?" Barry asked.

"Sure." We began walking.

"Wait!" I screamed.

"What's up now?" Barry complained.

"We shouldn't go into tall grass, pokèmon could attack us." I warned.

"Ha, see if I care!" He scurried away.

I rolled my eyes. "Wait up!" i walked behind him.

"Star?" A bird called Starly looked at me. I kneeled down, my black socks getting dirty.

"Star!" It screeched and chased me. I ran screaming.

I finally got out of the grass.

"What's your problem?" Barry put his hands on his hips.

"I was just chased by a stupid Starly." I grunted.

"Ha! Well let's get in before I have to fine you!" Barry coined his annoying catch phrase. I rolled my eyes and followed.

"I'm Barry and this is Dawn!" Barry called. "We are here for pokèmon!"

"Please, quiet down!" A stressed boy wearing a scarf like mine and some red clothes turned around.

"Grandpa is working on something in the back room. Can you please wait just a little bit"?  he asked. "My name is Lucas."

"Sure." I said, dragging Barry to a nearby chair. After a while and old man in a lab coat ran out of the back room.

"Come quick! I figured it out!" He screamed. All of the scientists and Lucas hurried in. I looked at Barry before we got up and followed.

"A pokèmon must have a special stone while the trainer must posses a key stone. The special stones are scattered around, and they are extremely rare in sinnoh. That's why only a few pokèmon Mega Evolve around these parts.

"Wow!" Barry smiled.

"Wha-" He turned around and gasped.

"Who are you?" He was shocked.

"I'm Barry and this is Dawn, we came for pokèmon!" Barry explained.

The old man hurried us out. "You weren't supposed to hear that. Please, take this pokèdex and these pokèballs and promise to never repeat what you heard! This project is mine, don't give anybody else any ideas!" He was worried.

"On one condition." Barry smirked. "You have to give us pokèmon!" Barry exclaimed.

"But these ones are rare... Fine. Pick one and head out." He held out a brief case.

"I thought about this before I came... I want Turtwig!" Barry grabbed it's pokèball and ran outside.

"What a flighty young boy. He should really learn to relax. How about you?" He asked. "Chimchar or Piplup?" He asked. I weighed out my options.

"I think I will go with... Piplup." I took it's pokèball.

"Great! Lucas come here." He called over his grandson.

"This Chimchar is yours. Go out on a journey and fill in the pokèdex pages for me." He requested.

"Wha-?" He cried.

"I will help prepare you." They headed away.

"Thanks so much!" I called back. I walked outside to see Barry waiting for me.

"Dawn... I can't wait! Let's battle!" He held out his pokèball.
