It my first day at Keyton performing arts school,This is the biggest day of my life this is where it will all happen. Am Riley Mandela,I'm a freshman at Keyton performing arts school,I'm a dancer. At this school you can't just be a dancer you have to be the dancer. In my dance class Miss.Laytonè picks one of her new students to join her upper class group the double taps I want that student to be me of course, but if it's not going to be me. It's going to me my best friend Oliva. She is a great dancer she got me interested in dancing so I owe her big time. I just hope one of us get to be in the double taps it's the highest thing you can be in this school (in the dance area). Anyway after dance class it's just a normal school everyone thinks it's a dance, sing, music, acting etc... 24/7,but it's not like that. They just focus mainly on the art classes here. They set us up to make it out in the real world of being famous. That's why I applied to this school, of all art schools this is the best one to go to. They don't pick just anyone they pick the ones that have a gift and just need help and work to let the world know about it. That's why am going to work my butt of at this school,so I can make it to the top of it all. That's my dream and this school can make it happen if you aren't afraid of working hard. When I heard this school was that hardest/best school I practiced non-stop till I got my skills perfect. My mom always said "if you practice anymore your legs will fall off and you won't be able to get in" that always made me laugh then went inside and did homework or whatever needed to be done. I miss my mom and my hometown with all my friends,it was hard to say goodbye to all of them at first. When I got my letter saying I got in Keyton I didn't think about it,but when I called up my friends they reminded me that I would have to leave them all behind. I still wanted to go even if I knew I was going to miss them, I had to come here. As I walked into the dance studio for the first time ever I felt eyes on me as if I was a monster. I knew it wasn't that but it's still a lot a pressure to handle for me, I'm not used to that kinda stuff. When I found Oliva I walked over to her and set my bag down next to hers and started stretching. We talked until Miss.Laytonè walked into the room and demanded silence in her class. We stood up and walked to the center of the room and sat in the middle. I was more nerves then when I had to open my letter to see if I got into Keyton. "This will be the hardest four years of your life, this school usually has a student drop out by Christmas and many after that, that student may just be you" she says as she glances at me "now you are going to show me what you can do,let's see what your made of" she said and we all went back to a bar and waited to be called on "Riley Mandela" she said,I was up. I almost fainted because I was so nerves. I walked to the middle and waited for her to start the music, she hits play and it and I started to do one of my favorite numbers but I put a few twists on it. She stopped the music and said "not the worst I've seen" I nod and walk back to Oliva. She whispers "you did a good job,"she's right this is my second time taking this class and that the highest compliment she's given." Me and Oliva look at him and he says "am Jackson, but most people call me J." "Nice to meet you J." Me and Oliva say at the same time. At that moment I know this is gong to be a good year.
