A Friendlier Alarm Clock

~Friendlier Alarm Clock~

I lie in bed innocently sleeping

When my peace is ruptured

By a repeated, loud beeping

Erupting from my demonic, evil piece of plastic.

I walk half-asleep

Towards the kitchen, where I breathe in

The familiar, luscious aroma.

The longing arises in my throat

For the caffeine mixture filling the room with joy

I take a sip out of the warm, white mug

It burns my tongue immediately

But I don’t care, I take another sip

The bitter liquid ignites my tastes buds like fireworks

And I decide

That coffee is a friendlier alarm clock.
