Tied Up in the Moment

I woke up before Mark. I laid on my stomach just staring at the gorgeous gem on my left hand. I couldn't believe how the weekend unfolded. I never would have expected this. I heard a slight moan beside me. I looked to see a sleepy Mark open his chocolate brown eyes to stare at me.

"When did you plan this?" I asked playing with the ring on my hand.

Mark wrapped me into his arms, closer to him. He reached out to examine my hand as well.

"Actually, it was pretty spontaneous. When you said you would come to meet my mother, I knew I had to. Since you and I have been together so much lately, I asked my mother to pick out one. She has a knack for this sort of thing."

"Oh, your mother has good taste."

"Actually, its a family heirloom. When I saw the one Mom picked out, my jaw hit the floor. It was her mother's wedding ring. She said you should have it, she was so sure of you at dinner that she gave me this one in the box instead of the one she picked out earlier that I later put a down payment on. Which reminds me, I have to return that today sometime."

"Wow, she really does like me." I breathed in, taken aback how sure Mark's mother was on me.

"Of course she does, what's not to like?" Mark smirked and kissed my lips lightly.

"I don't know everything is just working out so well. It just feels different." I sighed at the sad thought I just proclaimed.

"Well, think of this way. My family is your family. You will never be alone again, I promise."

I kissed Mark softy. I got up to get dressed for the day. Mark did the same. I grabbed a cut off shirt and shorts from my suitcase. While getting dressed I checked my email, nothing. I let out an aggravated sigh.

"What's wrong, Lydia?" Mark asked looking over at me after just putting his shirt on.

"It bothers me that I haven't found a job yet. No one is replying for my offers." I groaned.

"I'm sure something will come up, it'll be okay." Mark kissed my cheek before heading downstairs.

I ran after him.

Mark paused and turned to face me. "Wait. Don't you have another semester?"

"Yes, but I am trying to work with getting my name out there." We came upon the kitchen and Mark's mother was no where to be seen.

Mark found a note on the dining table that said she went to return the other ring.

"Well, that was sweet of her!" I said fawning over how nice his mother was.

Mark looked at me with a certain look that I couldn't place the emotion. "You know what that means."

"Um, no?"

"We are home alone." He said darkly. He ran to me and picked me up, carrying me back to his room.

I laughed as he closed the door and pressed me against it, facing the door.

"You have no idea how hard it has been to keep my hands off of you since being here." He breathed in with his mouth near my neck.

His hands rubbed up and down my sides.

"I've had this idea for so long that I'd marry you. Every move you make, makes me want you more." He said in between kissing my neck and shoulder.

Mark ripped off my pjs leaving me in my black lace underwear. I could feel him take off his shorts behind me. Mark usually slept shirtless.

"Lydia, you make me weak." Mark breathed in on my skin again.

"Can we try something new, Stiff?" He chuckled after spinning me around to face him. His eyes landed on my hardened nipples.
