chapter 12: the epilogue

"im sorry." someone says. it was my moms funeral.

"if one more person says im sorry im going to sucker punch them." i whisper to dad whose next to me.

"just keep fake smiling." he whispers back.

"if i keep smiling ill get stuck this way." he chuckles. i see a familiar wisp of brown hair. i grab his hand and pull him to Bella.

"come on dad, i want to show you Bella." i say.

"Bella's your best friend, the one whose dating Edward?" i roll my eyes.

"Nina im so sorry." she says and hugs me.

"its alright Bella, I've moved on." i say and hug her back. she looks at Elliot. at first glance he seems like Emmett very broad and scary but if you know him hes a big teddy bear.

"Nina? did you already move on from jasper?" she asks. me and dad look at each other and laugh.

"that would be incest, Bella. Bella i want you to meet my dad Elliot cativar, Emmett nephew." i say.

"seriously?" she says. i nod and she groans. 

"well, now we can tease Emmett." i tell her and she laughs.

"Nina, im sorry for your loss." a voice says from behind me. i turn to see the Denali, Kate, Eleazar, Tanya and Carmen. they all look fine but Eleazar, hes stiff. 

"thanks guys." i say and hug them. when i get to Eleazar he pulls me off to the side.

"when were you going to tell me?" he asks.

"tell you what?"

"you turned."

"what?!" 

"you got bit, then you turned into a vampire." he says slowly.

"but the bite didn't even knock me out?" i say confused.

"what bite?"

"Laurent gave me and Bella a visit down in forks. he said that he was doing a favor to us. victoria was going to slowly kill Bella because Edward killed James, a mate for a mate i guess. but then he said she also knew i had something to do with it so instead of killing  me he was going to turn me. he bit me but it only stung when he had his teeth in me and it quickly healed me."

"where the werewolves close?" he asks.

"yeah, whats that got to do with anything?"

"well your gift is you can copy and combine gifts of others. even human and werewolf gifts. so you healed fast because you picked up their healing gift. and you didn't get any signs of being a vampire because you were picking up on human gifts. also if you tried really hard, you could give some of the traits to another." he says. i stay still for a second.

"that's sick." i say.

"yes but it will require a lot of practice." he says. "i suggest you get the Cullen's to help you."

"yes sir," he cracks a smile and we go back.

i sit on the plane alone. i was finally going back to forks. Elliot was staying with the floros but we would visit each other. i cant wait to tell Bella everything. it had been a week since the funeral. i stayed with Elliot in our house to practice my powers. last night i used human abilities and put him to sleep. he said it was the best sleep he ever had. i cant wait to show Bella. i get off the plane and get in my car. i drive to the familiar white  and knock on the door.

"hi Nina, good to see you back." charlie says.

"is Bella here?"

"no shes over at the Cullen's house." i guess she did what i did, say goodbye to the empty house.

"thanks charlie." i get back in the car.

"im coming home. im coming home, tell the world that im coming home." skylar grey sings from the radio. i laugh, how ironic.

i pull up at the house. and run inside using my vampire speed. i can sense the Cullen family is back but i ignore them and use my speed to get Bella then use the speed to go outside in the baseball clearing, where it all started.

"what the-Nina?" she says.

"hi Bella." 

"how?" a speed of air tells me Edward is here.

i wiggle my eyebrows.

"Nina, must you make a joke out of everything, this is serious." she says. the rest of the cullens join us.

"Nina?" jasper says from behind me. im so broken from what he did, i will do what my mom said, make him run for his money. but hearing his voice almost makes me cave. i run away from him to home crying.

im not going to last long.
