"i call first shower!"

"you need it stink head." Vanny shouted, as she went into a full sprint towards the building.

We raced, she won, only because she got a head start. I smirked, and headed to the kitchen damn this girl. Always taking the biggest slice of the cake. Rolling my eyes I headed to my room. I threw open the door to find-

"Ellie!?"

"Hello Raymond" the beautiful girl lounging across my bed said to me, studying my every move. "Long time no see"

"You- you- you left. You left us." I slowly reached towards my belt, where my weapon of choice was hidden, my throwing knife.

"I wouldn't do that, if I were you. I could kill you from here." She let her jacket fall off her shoulders, revealing intricate tattoos along her arms, trailing up her neck. "Sit. We need to talk."

Slowly I crossed over to my desk chair, and I sat down. "What is it Ellie? What made you come back?"

"You won't believe me when I say this, but I wasn't kidnapped. I left voluntarily." She looked down at her arms, tracing the tattoos with the tip of her fingernail. "They found me. They told me that if I didn't come with them. They'd kill you both. So I left. They are coming after you. And they will kill you. They let me have this chance to talk to you and to ask you to join us. It's the only way to survive. Please, Raymond." She looked up at me, and I could see a single tear roll down her cheek. " I only left to protect you. And now, I need your help to protect Vanessa."

"What do I need to do?" My words were resolved, I would do everything I can to protect Vanessa.

Ellie looked at me. She wiped the tear away. "You need to let yourselves be captured."

My eyes widened, I took in a shaky breath. "Vanny will never let that happen."

"She won't, at least she won't if she knows about it."

"Wait, I need to keep this from her?"

She stood up, "yes, you do. This is the only way to keep her safe."

From down the hall, I heard the water turn off. My head snapped towards Vanny's room. When I looked back to my bed, Ellie was gone. I looked around frantic, and I saw, my window was open. I ran to the window, and I saw a flash of Ellie's blonde hair. I stood there, looking at the spot where she had disappeared.

"Hey, you getting in, or do you wanna head down to the market?" Vanny said, leaning into my room.

I jumped, not expecting her behind me. "Oh, oh yeah, sure let's go to the market." I turned towards her.

"You look like you've seen a ghost." She raised an eyebrow. "Meet me downstairs in five. Bring your mask." And she left.

Once she left, I looked towards my bed, there was a paper there.

Next Friday, 127 country line rd. Apt. 37 Sector 4
Afterwards go down the east alley.
This is the only way.

I wish it was a ghost.
