the newest prisoners

the guards rushed me through a back door, and into a room, sitting inside the room was Yui, Roman, Kyra, Caison, Nova and Raymond. they all sat in a row of chairs along the right side of the room, the guards that had walked in here with them, were gone. one of the guards pointed to the open chair next to Raymond and i sat down. the guards left and we were left alone. we sat in silence. everyone wondering what they had done to prove themselves worthy of advanced training, what advanced training was, and where the others went. although we only lost two members, it felt like our group was missing some crucial piece needed to function. Yui and Roman looked especially sullen. after all, they were missing their siblings, and they didn't know if they would ever see them again. i was about to try to start conversation with everyone, talking to them about their new names, when the door opened.

Ellie and Dr. Norris walked in. Norris cleared his throat and began to speak.

"welcome to advanced training. as you all know I'm Dr. Norris and i will be your primary doctor." Norris moved his hands, signing so that yui could understand him.

"and i am Zero-9. i am your primary instructor. and team leader." Ellie continued to talk, while Norris focused on signing to yui.

"you all have proved that your powers are advancing enough to begin truly training them. thus you were accepted into advanced training. me and Dr. Norris are your leaders, mentors, bosses, captains, whatever other job title that means "in charge" we are. starting in two days time you will begin training, you will have sessions of team training, individual training, "school", and power training. team training is where you will work as a team to solve problems, work together, and grow as a team. individual training is where you will work on things like physical strength, and learning how to use weapons, including yourselves. school is what we call the instruction portion of training, that is where you will learn about formations, duties, procedures, and other things that you will be required to know. finally power training is where you will meet with trainers and scientists to focus and train your unique powers."

Ellie stopped and waited for Dr Norris to catch up to her. she looked at everybody in turn. lingering on Raymond's eyes, and looking away quickly after she met my gaze.

"as team leader i know how each one of you got here. i know most of your pasts, and for some, i know a lot more than that. as a team we must be able to fully trust one another. this is why starting tonight you are to talk to each other, freely. and you are encouraged to tell each other your pasts and your secrets. tonight i will join this session of talking to each other, and Dr Norris will join in the discussion tomorrow. this is simply to avoid you all needing to share each story twice." 

again she paused to let Dr Norris catch up.

"i know that many of you don't know why you were brought here, most of you underwent the procedure without any knowledge of what was happening, and all of you have been held here like a prisoner ever since. however now, you aren't prisoners. now you have been given more freedoms. you will be able to walk around more of the complex, and will be able to be unchaperoned. furthermore, everyone will be able to go to the dining hall from now on."

she focused directly on Caison.

"however, any attempt to harm another, or rebel, will be met with punishments for the entire team. so it is in everyone's best interest to keep an eye on each other, and remedy any situation that appears."

she looked away, and let her eyes flick back and forth again.

"I'm going to lead you to your advanced barracks, you will find these to be a far cry better than the beginning barracks."

we all stood up and followed her out the door, yui and Dr Norris signing back and forth, everyone walked out in the same order they walked in as. luckily. i don't know what i would do if i were to be that close to Ellie right now. i might hold her close, or I'd hit her.
