Don't Go

Magnus sighed and stood from his chair to make his way down the hall to their bedroom where he knew Alec was packing his bags and gee was he right, Alec had a large suitcase opened up on the bed and he was randomly throwing things inside it.

"Alec, baby, please, don't go." Magnus spoke softly and carefully walked towards his husband.

"Leave me alone." Alec spoke, anger and upset clear in his usually calm voice.

Magnus knew this time wasn't like the others and he couldn't stop Alec leaving if he tried, he didn't believe in using his magic on Alec.

"Get out of my way." Alec spoke with tears welling in his eyes and suitcase in hand.

Magnus regretfully stepped aside and watched the man he loved walk away from him and he wasn't sure if everything was going to be okay this time.

Alec sadly walked the short distance to the institute, this wasn't the first time Alec had turned up home at an ungodly hour of the morning.

Alec creaked open the large wooden door and took himself up to his old room, which still had everything he needed.

"Alec?" Came a sleepy voice from behind him as he opened his bedroom door.

"Hey Iz." Alec gave his younger sister a sad smile.

"Fighting with Magnus again?" She asked softly, rubbing her makeupless eyes.

"Yeah." Alec's voice came out broken as he began to sob.

"Come on, come sleep with me." Izzy spoke softly, taking her older brother into her arms and leading him to her room.

Alec woke when the sun came streaming through the crack in his sisters curtains, he rolled over to find Izzy not next to him and figured she was probably down in the training room or off somewhere with Simon.

After a shower and something to eat Alec padded his way down the hall to the training room.

When Alec opened the heavy door to the training room he found Isabelle, Jace and Clary spread out across the room training at different things, a shadowhunter could never get too good for training.

"Morning!" Alec shouted, trying to sound cheerful.

Clary waved, Jace nodded and Izzy dropped what she was doing and made her way over to her brother.

"How are you feeling this morning?" She asked, wrapping her arms around Alec waist.

"Not much better." Alec mumbled and wrapped his own arms around his sisters shoulders.

"Maybe you need to go home and actually talk to him?" Isabelle suggested carefully, pulling away from her brothers embrace.

"It's different this time Iz.." Alec sighed, looking around the training room.

"I know you say it's different but if you don't talk to him without blowing up you could ruin your marriage, things don't just fix themselves." Isabelle was sounding more and more like their mother every day and it scared him. But she was right, things didn't just fix themselves.

Alec spent the rest of his day moping around the institute, trying to figure out how to talk to his husband without screaming and leaving again. He may have over exaggerated the situation a little but he thought he had a point.

It was starting to get dark when Alec heard a knock on his bedroom door.

"Yeah?" Alec called miserably, knowing it was probably Izzy about to tell him dinner was ready.

The door opened and none other than his husband entered the room, shutting the door behind him. Alec just wanted to forget everything and run into his arms but he knew he shouldn't, they needed to talk, not fuck and forget about it.

"I know you hate me right now but will you please come home and talk? You can leave again after if you really want to but I think we should talk where others aren't listening." Magnus spoke, raising his voice towards the end, both of them knowing Isabelle and Jace were listening from outside the door.

"Okay." Alec spoke softly, standing to gather his suitcase.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Back at their home, Alec sat nervously on the sofa, playing with the thread hanging off of the sleeve of his old worn out jacket while Magnus was apparently going to the bathroom.

"So, where do we start?" Magnus asked awkwardly as he entered the living room, wiping his wet hands on his clothes.

"I don't know.." Alec mumbled, looking down at his bare feet.

"Maybe we should start with why you got so worked up last night?" Magnus asked, sitting down next to Alec but not too close.

"I'm sick of you being stuck in your work 24/7, it's like you're married to your work, not me.." Alec sobbed.

"I'm sorry baby, I didn't know this upset you so much..." Magnus sighed, running a hand over his tired face.

"Well it does, I would love to spend more than 2 hours with you and I'd love to fall asleep and wake up next to my husband." Alec wailed, hold his head in his hands.

"I'm so so sorry baby, come here." Magnus scooted closer and took Alec in his arms.

"I'll try harder and balance my home and work life I promise, I'm going to make things right." Magnus spoke soothingly, carding his fingers through Alec's silky black hair.

"I-I'll try to n-not to get s-s-so u-upset." Alec spoke between sobs.

Magnus knew trying to balance work and home life was going to be hard, he never realised how much his work was getting in the way of things. He couldn't ever see himself without Alec by his side, he needed to save his marriage and fast.

Magnus let Alec cry until he couldn't cry anymore and carried him upstairs to their bedroom, setting him down gently on the bed.

"Would you like to take a nice bubble bath with me?" Magnus asked softly and Alec nodded.

"Okay, wait here baby." Magnus smiled and took himself into their ensuite to run the bath.

When the bath was done it was almost over flowing with bubbles, Magnus had accidentally dropped the whole bottle into the bath, lucky Alec loved bubbles.

Magnus walked back into the bedroom to find Alec already stripped of his clothes and laying face down on the bed. There was so many inappropriate things Magnus wanted to do to Alec right now but he knew the timing just wasn't right.

"It's all ready baby." Magnus spoke, trying to keep the dirty grin off his face and walking back to the bathroom.

Magnus was half way through taking his pants off when he felt two cold hands run themselves down his bare back.

"Hello." Magnus grinned, not turning around and pushing his underwear off.

"Hi." Alec giggled softly.

"Come on, let's get in." Magnus chuckled and slipped himself into the bathtub.

Alec stood at the edge of the tub contemplating how they were both going to fit.

"In between my legs baby." Magnus winked, causing Alec to blush bright red at his husbands words.

Alec carefully stepped into the bath, sitting down between Magnus legs just like he was instructed.

"How about a massage?" Magnus whispered into Alec's ear, rubbing his hands softly on the other mans shoulders.

And for just a moment Alec thought everything might be okay.
