"Girl, saying 'di mo nakitang nag-aaway kanina sila Morisette at Nadine!" That was Roanna. Nadine was a transferee student – a talented dancer as everybody claims.
"Anyare?" I asked Roanna. I was at the canteen when it all happened.
"Basta! Nag-aaway sila, tapos alam mo ba kung kanino kampi si Ran?" she was telling me this excitingly, as if she was narrating an afternoon television drama. "Kay Nadine siya, bro! Kaloka kasi kanina umiiyak na si Nadine, tapos nilapitan siya ni Ran at pinapahinahon. Akalain mo 'yon?"
I was dumbfounded. I didn't know how to react. Knowing Ran, it was no doubt that he'd be nice enough to comfort a crying Nadine. But it's another story when rumors about him liking Nadine has been spreading before this happened. It became evident to me that the rumors are not just rumors. I mean, who wouldn't like her? She's good at dancing, a size zero, and very pretty.
And classic me stared into nothingness that day. Heck, I was jealous. Ran and I are slowly drifting apart as friends. He has found his way into groups of boys, and was relatively popular among girls in different classes. And he likes girls like Nadine – girls that are very much the opposite of me. It's a hopeless case, I knew that. But I was more worried about losing my best friend.

ChickLitI always believed true stories are boring. Reality is so straightforward it has no time for stupid cliches. But here is my cliche. The story how I fell in love with my bestfriend.
