Alex woke up in a pink house.

After a series of violent and scary dreams, I awoke, breathing heavily and clutching onto a pillow beside me. For a second, in the dark, I thought everything was normal. That I was at home and could go watch some old mortal cartoons on my TV and let it all go. Then my  father would find me and remind me that it was just all a dream. And then I would get up, ace Spanish class and totally dominate a skateboard contest against Kenzie.

But that awesome fantasy ended when I turned on the lights.

"WHAT THE ACTUAL HECK," I said loudly without thinking. The entire room was pink. The bed spread was pink. The pillow I was holding was pink, which I threw across the room at the pink curtains over the window. The whole room shook.

My feet landed on the pink carpet. I didn't mind pink when my sister wore it and stuff, but this was a prime example of going overboard.

I searched around for my sword, or in this case, my badge. If worse comes to worse, I fight my way out of here. I couldn't find it as I banged my hand against the end table. But it did land on a note, in which I frowned at. I gagged at the smell of the note and the room altogether.

I read the note anyways.

Dearest Grandson,

I seem to understand you've been having some trouble on your quest. As I saw, that jerk- what was his name- the one with the bad battle fashion sense? Oh, right. Odin. Well, he didn't do much, and seeing as you, your best friend and that girl (wink, wink) where all in deep trouble, out of supplies, and you basically had two dead teens on your back, you needed help. I took pity on you three. I've been watching you all very closely and am glad to finally see some interesting stories. I mean, one that is deeply in love (but doesn't know it,) with someone that is impossible to be in love with, (literally.) One that is, again, deeply in love, but is aware and is in love with someone way out of their league. And one that doesn't know who they are in love with and is deeply confused. I mean, this story has made a prime lookout on my blog, Drama with Demigods. It's doing quite well, if you ask me. But, in any case, I saw you riding a dragon and helped you out with it. In an amazing flash and a tight squeeze, (I almost missed my hair appointment, ) I created this house. There's all your- essential demigod stuff in the fridge downstairs. All your clothes are in the closet and I gave you a fine choice of weapons.
Oh, and I healed your friends, too.
Toodles!
xoxo,
Aphrodite.

I groaned. Of course it would be pink.

I mean, I was grateful of course, for Aphrodite being so interested in our love stories and giving us a house. That sounded weird. Weirder than should.

I frowned. So this house wasn't hostile. I smiled to myself grimly as I set the letter back down.

"I wonder.." I said aloud. I clapped my hands suspiciously, and the main ceiling light turned on.

It's official. Get rid of the pink and I'll love this house.

I smiled to myself. Mind as well take a shower, I thought. I'm covered in dragon scales and spit.

I took a shower and got dressed.

I tried to make my schedule as normal as possible. I walked down the stairs just as the sun rose and the house tilted again. As the house tilted, my mind dwelled not on this, but on how homesick I was. How I missed just being in New Rome.

I couldn't wait for this quest to be over so everything could go back to as normal as it could be.

Yet, everything wouldn't be the same when I came back. Sure, school would start soon after. But maybe Cleo would start attending school with us. And sure, my family would still be there. But this was the year Selena is going to move out and start going to college on her own. Charlotte would be starting her 3rd year of high school, which I'd be starting this following year. Our school is weird that way. If we went to mortal school, 8th grade would be in middle school. But here, it's in high school. I know. Scary. Of course, I'd go to school with my 2 other best friends, Carter and Emma, and maybe even Cleo. But I was missing one. I was missing my other half.
