Fallen Too Far

Chapter 30

"Char... I can't" He whispered looking to the ground.

"No.. You can, you're just choosing not to.." I replied.

"I Know, but if I tell you, I'm going to lose you... And you're going to get hurt." His words caught my attention ,and I started to feel a lot more nervous.

"If you love me as much as you say you do.. You'll tell me" I whispered. His head shot up and I noticed that tears were swarming his eyes.

How serious was this?

He stood up and walked over to me. I was frozen because I didn't know what to expect out of all this. He wrapped his arms around my body and held me close to him. I started to feel scared when I could feel him crying against my skin.

"This is so much harder then I wanted it to be" He whimpered. I shivered before wrapping my arms around his torso.

"Just tell me you love me" I whispered.

"I love you"

"Then you know you can tell me anything"

He pulled away from me and I brushed his tears away with my thumbs.

"You won't lose me"

"Don't be so sure about that, Charlie" I gave him a pleading look and he looked around the room.

Clearly thinking about it.

I was slightly confused when he walked across my rom and closed me blinds and locking my screen door. And then doing the same to my bedroom door. He brought me on the bed with him and took my hands in his.

"It started with your brother."

Oh god, he was going to tell me. I didn't prepare for this!

"He got himself into a lot of trouble with Dustin's gang member, Travis. I never knew what it was about, but Ashton came to me one week before his death"

"You knew my brother?" I asked

"He was a newer member of my group"

That explains why he was always home late..

"But you asked me who he was when you say a picture" I questioned

"I couldn't give anything away"

"Give what away?"

"Please, just let me finished, Charlotte" I nodded my head..

"The night he died, I went to Dustin to try and get him to reconsider, but it was to late.. Travis had already left.. Travis was the one your parents threw in jail." I was still wrapping my head around the thought that Harry was part of this.

"And that leads to now... Dustin found out you moved here. Last year, he had no idea Ashton had a little sister, he only wanted to get back at your parents. But when he found out you were around he came up with something else.. On your first day of school, it was me and him that were fighting in the hallways.. After that he proposed a deal to me, that was so hard to make.."

"Tell me" I croaked out, noticing I was still holding his hands.

"When I say this to you, you need to take this into consideration on why I did it"

"Okay..."

"Dustin wanted your parents to see you suffer. He gave me until Valentine's to break your heart.. Or else... He threatened to kill you."

I let go of his hands and moved away from him

"That's a bluff! He wouldn't ki-"

"-Yes he would. Charlie... Dustin killed Gemma" My heart dropped and I could feel my face flush.
