I woke up to the sound of my phone buzzing. I fumbled around my bedsheets, and when my hand felt the emptiness of a body I sat up quickly. Yato had left, and judging by the coldness of the other side of the bed, he had left a while ago. I fought back feelings of disappointment and checked my phone. I had about a dozen missed calls from Ami. I immediately knew something was up since Ami rarely ever calls me. I quickly dialed her number.
"Hiyori! It's about time you called me back, it's nearly eleven a.m.," Ami scolded. I glanced at the clock and saw Ami was right, it was ten minutes to eleven. I hardly ever slept in this late, even when I would stay up reading or watching tv.
"Is something wrong?" I asked. I heard Ami start talking and then suddenly hesitate. "Ami-"
"It's Fujisaki!" she blurted out. "He's been asking me and Yama for your address."
"My address? What for?"
"He wouldn't really say, just that he needed to talk to you."
I frowned and stood up. The last thing I wanted was Fujisaki coming to my house. I told him not long after that night that I didn't want to talk for a while, and he still insisted on texting me and stopping me at school.
"Well don't give it to him, he should have gotten the idea by now," I sighed. I stood and stretched my arms behind my head.
"What should I tell him then?" Ami asked.
"Tell him I don't want to talk to him and then hang up," I said sternly.
"Hiyori-"
"Nope. No buts, Ami. He needs to get the message."
Ami mumbled an alright before saying goodbye and hanging up. I threw my phone on my bed and huffed impatiently. This whole situation with Fujisaki was exhausting. What kind of guy kisses a girl he barely knows anyways? I sighed one more time before heading towards the bathroom, wanting to clear my head with a steaming hot shower.
I went down the stairs slowly, hoping my mom wasn't awake. I was going to leave her a note so she wouldn't completely freak out about me being gone. As I grabbed a piece of paper from the counter, I heard a groggy voice.
"Hiyori?"
Luckily it wasn't my mom, but my dad instead. He rarely ever slept in, even on his days off. I exhaled in relief and smiled.
"Hey dad," I said.
"Is your hair wet? Are you planning on going somewhere?" he asked.
I tucked a piece of hair behind my ear. "Umm, yeah. I was going to go shopping with uh...Ami. Is that alright?" This was the second time I had lied to my parents and I really didn't like it.
"Sure, but be back by dinner. Your brother is going to stop by," he replied. My eyes widened in excitement. My brother hardly ever stopped by now that he was at university, and we hadn't seen him since Christmas.
"Okay, bye dad!" I waved to him as I stepped out the door and into the heat. It was only eleven-thirty and it was already eighty-four degrees out. (A/N: degrees is in Fahrenheit since I'm american lol). I was wearing a t-shirt and some shorts, but didn't feel confident I would feel cool enough. I quickly made my way to Kofuku's, going over my conversation with Ami. I didn't think what happened with Fujisaki would upset me so much, but it did. My first kiss stolen by a guy I didn't even like, let alone even knew that well. I shook my head. This wasn't something to dwell on. I decided to stop by a bakery on my way, thinking to pick up some snacks. Both Kofuku and Yato had huge appetites, and I knew the red bean buns from this bakery were their favorite. I pushed open the doors of the bakery, the cool air from the air conditioning welcoming me. I browsed the shelves, picking up some macaroons. I froze when I heard that same familiar voice.
