Chapter 5: Moving Day

I rolled over and sat up out of bed, shutting off my alarm from my phone. It was 9:00, and I felt pretty good! I'm really excited to be moving, I'm confident about it. A new school and all sounds pretty good to me.

I went to my bathroom and brushed my teeth, then turned on Pandora. The first thing that came on was a song by Cameron Dallas. I smiled a little bit, and got in the shower.

About 15 minutes passed and I stepped out. I wrapped my aqua colored towel around me. I walked over to my dresser, and pulled out a dark colored pair of skinny jeans, and then go my closet to grab a shirt. I picked out a crimson short sleeve tee, and grabbed some low cut socks to wear with my tan sperries.

I looked down at my suitcase and sighed a bit. I'm stuck in a middle of emotions. Just all this is happening so quick.

I went to my bathroom, and got out my blow dryer and curler. I dried my hair and then curled it quickly to make some messy curls. I unplugged everything and set them down in my suitcase. I took out my makeup bag, and went back into the bathroom. I opened my Naked Palette, and chose a light color for eyeshadow. I applied concealer and powder and some light eyeliner. I filled my eyebrows in a little bit, I hated the scar that I had on my left eyebrow. I covered that up, then put on some mascara. I wanted to look pretty good today, considering I'm going to California! I zipped up my makeup bag and set it back down in my suitcase.

"Hey sweetheart, are you ready to get some furniture moved into the truck? You're dad and a few guys will be up here shortly to move things out. Is your dresser and all cleared?" My mom asked, standing in my door way.

"Yeah, there's just a few things left in there, I'll get them out and bag them up. I'll be downstairs here soon." I said.

She smiled and nodded, then walked back down the stairs.

It was about 10:30 now, and I need to leave for the airport at 1. I called Kayleigh and told her that I would meet her at Panera Bread for a little early lunch date before I left.

I went downstairs and greeted my dad and some other guys helping us move. Almost everything thing in the living room was gone.

I told my dad I was headed to Panera, and he nodded his head.

"Do you need any money?" He asked.

"No, thank you dad, I have some money." I replied with a slight smile.

I turned out to the door and grabbed my keys off the hook. I went to my car and started it up.
I pulled into Panera's parking lot and got out. Kayleigh pulled up in her truck next to me. She got out and I could see her face was red and splotchy. I could tell she's been crying.

I ran around her car and gave her a hug.

"I just don't want you to leave.." She said, whimpering.

"I know Kay, but it'll be alright. You can come visit like your mom said over fall or winter break." "Things will be okay, I promise!" I said reassuring her.

She wiped her remaining tears and he headed up to the doors. We got inside and I ordered first.

"I'll take a cinnamon muffin and a small raspberry lemonade please." I said, looking through my wallet for a few dollars. I looked up and my face became blank. No emotion, nothing. It was Cole. My crush since 6th grade. His bright blue eyes stared me in the face. I could tell my face was turning red. He smiled and nodded his head. "And for you?" He said, asking Kayleigh.

"I'll take a large lemonade and a turkey sub." Kayleigh said smiling, hinting at me by nudging my side with her arm.

She knows I have liked him forever.

He gave us the total, and we paid and waited for our food.

"Go ahead and find a table, I'll bring the food to you guys." He said smiling at me.

I smiled really big and walked over to a booth.

We sat down and a few minutes later, Cole brought us our food. He handed us the receipt that we forgot to get up at the counter. I looked down at it and looked back up.

"Thank you!" I said, smiling.
"No Problem, enjoy your food." He said, smiling back.

Kayleigh and I started eating and talking about things. She is going to go to the airport in a little while, with me.

We finished up eating and left Panera around 11:45.

We both got into our cars and headed to my house. I put in my Drake CD, and turned up the volume. It was about 65 out, so I cracked the Windows. It's really hitting me that I'm leaving.

I pulled up to my house with Kayleigh behind in her truck. I got out and walked to the porch. In the driveway, there were 2 moving vans, and a few guys were loading things into the back.

I went inside and Kayleigh came in too. We went to my room, and I zipped up my suitcase along with my carry on bag. My room was empty. All the memories started to fill up my head, all of them that I could remember since I was 4. I was going to miss my house and my little town. All my friends and family here.

I turned to Kayleigh with my things and she leaned in for a hug. We stood there hugging for probably 10 minutes. I was so upset I had to leave her.

"I'm going to miss you so much." Kayleigh said, dropping her head.

"I know Kay, I'm gonna miss you!! But at least we can visit this fall." I said.

"I know!" She said smiling. "Are you all ready to go?" She added.

"Yes I think so, we just need to go check on Elise and make sure she is ready too."

We both walked to Elise's room, and opened her door. She was finishing putting things in her suitcase.

"Hey sis, are you ready?" I asked.

"Yes, are you?"

"Yes I am. We need to head to the airport now. Are you wanting to get lunch there?" I asked.

"Yeah, we can just grab some Starbucks if that's okay." She said.

"Yeah, that'll be fine. Let's go." I said, turning towards her door with Kayleigh by my side.

Once I got down to the stairs I turned into the kitchen to find my mom and dad packing things into boxes.

"Hey guys." My mom and dad said. "Are you all ready?" My mom added.

"Yes, we are actually going to head to the airport now." I said.

My dad took out his wallet and handed me his credit card.

"This is for the hotel for a couple of days. You girls can also grab some food with this and any other things you'll need." My dad said.

"Thank you dad." I said, smiling and placed the card in my purse.

"We are leaving now, our plane leaves in about an hour." As I said starting to reach for my suitcase handle.

"Alright girls, call us when you land." Said my mom. "Bye girls, we love you!" Said my dad.

I wheeled my luggage out the front door and turned around to look at the house. I blinked and felt a tear fall down my face. I wiped it and smiled, and made my way to the uber that my parents had called before we left. The man got out of the front seat and popped open the trunk for us. I said "thank you", and say my things in, and got into the car. I looked over at Kayleigh and smiled. She smiled back and got into her car, to meet us at the airport.
