Louis was sitting in the car passenger seat with tear streaks running down his face. His mother just stared at the road with a stony gaze trying not to cry.
Louis watched as the trees went by in a blur. The forms turning into one big green and black blob.
He couldn't believe his mother was doing this.
He wasn't crazy. He wasn't mad. He wasn't insane.
He was just gay.
After his family found out, they immediately said that it was a disease and that he needed to be fixed. They were sending him to Mountain Creek insane asylum for the mentally ill.
"Louis," His mother said in a firm but shaky voice.
"I really don't want you to be upset with us. We are only doing what's best for you. If we send you here, they will fix you and you'll get better."
"No mother! That's not true! There is nothing even wrong with me in the first place! So what if I like boys? Is it really that bad to you?" Louis said with a hurt expression and crinkled forehead.
His mother just sighed and kept on driving. Louis flung back against his chair and crossed his arms. He was upset that his family didn't accept him, especially his mother. They used to be so close.

When they pulled up to the asylum there were heavy grey rain clouds looming over the area. There were giant scraggly pine trees surrounding the building and even bigger pine trees covering the whole terrain. This place was literally in the middle of no where.
The dark weather conditions seemed to have an ironic play on how Louis was feeling. Everything in his life was just dark and gloomy.
Louis opened his car door and stepped onto the ground hearing the sound of the gravel crackling under his feet. He stepped around to the back and pulled out his two big heavy suitcases since he knew his mother wouldn't help.
He trailed behind his mother who just walked straight up the giant limestone steps to a tall metal door that had rust around the edges. He looked up and saw rows of windows covering every part of the wall. Each window had a set of rusty bars over it.
Louis's mother opened the door to the building and grabbed Louis's arm and started dragging him in. Louis didn't want to move, he was frozen in place. He didn't want to live here.
Louis and his mother walked up to the front desk and a lady in a white nurse outfit with a little cap greeted them with a fake smile.
"Hello what may I do for you this evening?" The lady asked.
"Yes hello my name is Johanna Tomlinson and I'm here to drop of my son, Louis Tomlinson, who will be a patient here from now on." Louis's mother said politely to the nurse.
The nurse looked at Louis with no sympathy whatsoever. Even when she noticed his red puffy eyes and shaking hands. She looked at him with annoyance as if his being here would be problematic.
The nurse turned back to Louis's mother and asked "Yes now why is he being admitted into this facility?" she asked typing away at her computer bringing up his profile to fill it out with information.
"Oh well, um, he is a homosexual...I was hoping your personnel could do something to fix his...problem" Johanna said looking at the ground in shame. While Louis just stared at the ceiling begging himself to not start crying again.
