Chapter 2~ Percy
I slashed another dummies head off with my trusty sword Riptide. As long as I had this thing, I could defeat anything. Well, mostly anything.
“Hey Percy! How’s the sword training going?”
I turn around and face Reese. His curly blonde hair jumping as he runs down the hill to meet me at the arena. Reese got to camp a few days ago and was claimed on his second day; he’s a son of Apollo.
When he finally catches up to me, I smile. “Good. How are Latin lessons?”
“Pretty easy! I never knew how simple it’d be to learn it!” Reese responds.
“Yeah, it’s surprising at first but comes in handy when you’re being chased by a monster and need a way out and the directions are in Latin.” I say.
“Yeah… so anyways, Capture the Flag starts soon!” Reese responds.
“How soon?” I ask, slashing the arm off of a dummy.
“Like two minutes.” Reese responds.
I drop Riptide in surprise and turn to face him. “Seriously? Let’s go!”
I pick up my celestial bronze sword and grab the cap from my pocket. I place it on the tip and it shrinks back down into a bronze ball-point pen.
We run up the hill- which was bit hard for me in my armor- and into the woods where Capture the Flag was being assembled.
“Heroes!” We hear Chiron’s booming voice ring out from the forest.
“This way!” I tell Reese and we run in that direction.
After dodging some rocks and some very angry porcupines, we finally reach the assembly.
“Athena Cabin will lead the Red Team and the Ares cabin will lead the Blue Team. On the red team: Apollo, Poseidon, Zeus, Demeter, and Dionysus. On the blue team: Aphrodite, Hades, Huntresses, Hephaestus, and Hermes. Game begins in ten minutes.” Chiron announces.
As usual, I’m with the Athena cabin. I wait by a rather large tree and lean against it, waiting for my fellow team-mates to finish putting on their armor.
“Hey, Percy!” A voice calls.
I follow the sound to find my best friend, Grover, running towards me.
“Hey, man! How’s it going?” I ask.
“Good, good. Getting ready for CTF?” He asks.
“That I am.” I answer.
“Cool. Don’t die!” He encourages before running off.
I nod, taking in the words of wisdom my sage of a satyr told me.
“Heroes, get ready!” Chiron calls out.
I follow the crowd of Red soldiers into the forest and on the East flank.
“GO!!!”
We take off, screaming battle cries at each other and fighting everything.
“Reese, this way!” I shout, motioning for him to follow me.
