“I will do my best to answer them the best I can.” The woman smiled and led me through a long corridor.

“Okay, well, how exactly is the Dark One planning on destroying the earth and why?”

“With our ability to time travel comes with responsibilities. We are forbidden to change any event in time unless, of course, the time traveler happens to be you,” the graceful woman murmured.

“Me?” I asked in a confused voice.

“The queen is granted the permission to change one event in time with one exception. She must have no evil intent in her heart. Victoria, just by you standing in front of me, I can tell you have no evil intent in your body. However, the Dark One is not you and not a king. If he alters an event in time, time itself shall shatter and the earth will collapse with it.“ She stopped in front of a large window and pointed to what appeared to be a regular rain cloud. “That is where the dark one resides. It is quite far away, about a weeks travel, but we can still see the darkness. He is powerful, and he must be stopped.”

I shuddered at the thought of the world I know being nothing. “How can we stop him?”

“The only way he can be stopped is if he's locked in a time box. You will have to follow him through time and use this to stop him.” She handed me a matching ring to my necklace. “All you need to do is point it at him and focus on the good. He will try to distract you if he knows what you're trying to do.”

“When is he going to try and change time?” I whispered and looked away from the window.

“Hard to say when he will try to do it since he goes back in time frequently. We are allowed to visit the past. If we weren't, our gift would be wasted. The Dark One visits the past for fun.” The woman turned away too and continued down the hallway.

“Well, Ms.....” I didn't know her name.

“Call me Myra,” she stated simply.

“Well Myra, I am not the right person for this!” I yelled as I watched her walk down the corridor without me.

“You are the only one, Victoria. Xavier will take you to your room. Get some rest because tomorrow will be your first attempt at saving the world.” Myra opened up a door and disappeared.

I stood alone and stared at where she stood seconds ago.

“Ready to see your room?” Xavier asked from behind me.

I jumped and screamed at his sudden appearance. “Xavier! You scared the bejesus out of me!”

“Sorry,” he mumbled and waited for me to calm down.

I nodded my head and followed him. We walked for what seemed like ages through hallways and doors, up staircase after staircase, and across covered bridges. This place was truly huge. “Are we there yet?” I whined to Xavier.

“Just one more set of stairs and we'll be in the palace hallway of bedrooms,” Xavier replied with a hint of annoyance in his voice.

Finally, after all the walking, we went up the final staircase. He led me to the room at the end of the hallway and pointed to my necklace. “Your necklace is the key; just insert it into the door knob and turn the knob.”

I did as he instructed and the door swung open. “Do you guys ever do anything easy?” I asked as I turned to walk in.

Xavier chuckled and leaned against the doorway. “My room is right next door. If you need anything, just call for me.”

He turned to leave as I started to shut the door. “Oh and Victoria?”

“Yeah?”

“Easy isn't in our vocabulary.” He smiled and walked inside his room.

The bedroom was more like an apartment. Easy and simple? Most definitely not in these people's dictionary. I spotted a queen bed with a purple comforter. They must have done some research on me. Sunshine filled the room and I spotted the beautiful waterfall from my window.

I felt myself yawn and jumped into my bed. Nap time! I have quite the adventure tomorrow.
