“Victoria!” I heard someone yell my name as they pounded on the door.
My eyes fluttered open and I jumped up towards the door. “What do you want?”
“Just get dressed and hurry up! We have a big day!” the familiar voice yelled out. Xavier's voice.
“I'm hurrying!” I replied and dashed around looking for clothes. “Xavier, I don't have any clothes here!”
“Let me in, I'll show you,” he commanded.
Without thinking, I opened the door and allowed him in.
“Nice pajamas,” Xavier chuckled and led me to a wall.
“Well? I don't see any clothes over here.” I smiled to myself.
Xavier shook his head with a smile on his face and pointed to the wall. “This is your closet.”
“The wall is my closet?” I asked doubtfully.
He pushed the wall inward and it moved to the side to reveal a large selection of clothes.
“Well, I feel stupid.” I sighed and walked into my dream closet.
“Don't. Things are,” Xavier paused, “different here.”
I slipped a band t-shirt over my tank top and moved all of my blonde hair to my right side. My gray sweatpants looked a little too casual but I don't care. I'm only going back in time, it's not a big deal or anything.
As I stepped out of my closet, I saw Xavier's eyes on me. “What? Too casual?”
“No, it's just that,” Xavier stopped in mid-sentence. “Never mind.”
“Well, I look okay, right?” I worriedly asked.
“Yeah.”
Great, a one word answer. I slipped on my flip flops and followed Xavier down the hallway. Myra met us on the covered bridge, which faced the unique magenta waterfall.
“The Dark One is traveling today,” Myra informed us. “You will need to leave now.”
Xavier turned to me and sighed. “Think of the Dark One.”
The Dark One wants the world to end and I don't know why. What did humans do to him? Better yet, what didn't we do? Maybe he just thinks it would be fun. Regardless, I have to stop him.
The tinted blue glowed familiarly and Xavier hugged me tightly. “Think 'Take me to the Dark One',” he whispered in my ear.
Take me to the Dark One. Take me to the Dark One. Take me to the Dark One.
Once again, I felt a chilling wind surround me until he poked my shoulder “It's okay to open you eyes now.”
The dark forest loomed ahead of us and I could smell smoke. “Why is he here?”
“I don't know, but he wants us to be here,” Xavier replied and started walking forward.
Silently, I followed him through tall grass and towering trees. “I'm scared.”
“I won't let anything happen to you,” Xavier blurted out.
“Thanks,” I whispered and stopped dead in my tracks. “Xavier, look!”
Flames burned on in front of us, and I could distinctly make out shadows of people. They were arguing and were in a fighting position.
“We need to get closer.” Xavier crouched down and motioned me to follow him.
Normally, I wouldn't follow anyone anywhere but, seeing how I trusted Xavier, I did.
As we approached the mystery figures, I could hear their loud conversation and instantly recognized a voice I had once cherished. My mother stood in front of a burned face known as the Dark One. She had the same ring I had on my finger and my necklace.
“Natalie, you have failed just like your mother before you,” The Dark One hissed at my mother.
He's talking about my gram. Oh, mom please don't let him get away.
“I have not failed, yet,” She thrust her ring at him, which was supposed to trap him, but he counter attacked with whatever powers he has and my mother fell to the ground.
“MOM!” I screamed at the top of my lungs and ran out from our hiding spot to her.
Xavier tackled me down just before the Dark One threw some type of magic fire ball at me.
“Ah Xavier, you are interfering with my plans yet again,” The Dark One bellowed with rage.
“Well, I can't let you destroy the Earth, now can I?” Xavier answered, letting go of me and allowing me to run to my mother's side.
“See, that's where I always get lost,” The Dark One stepped forward and now stood directly in front of Xavier.
“Why? Is it because I chose the light instead of darkness? Is it because I chose Myra instead of you?” Xavier muttered coldly.
“DON'T SAY HER NAME!” The Dark One yelled fiercely.
“Why? Are you embarrassed of me?” he asked and backed up to now stand in front of me.
“Victoria, you can't save your mom. If you do, you'd be changing time.”
“But, I'm allowed one event in time!” I cried out.
“So, you travel with the new queen?” The Dark One chuckled with an evil smile on his face.
“Don't touch her!” Xavier yelled and yanked me up from the ground protectively.
“Touchy, aren't you? I shall enjoy giving this one the curse as I see how it displeases you,” he started walking towards us.
Wishful Falls, Wishful Falls, Wishful Falls, Wishful Falls, Wishful Falls, Wishful Falls
My necklace glowed and Xavier hugged me tightly.
“You can run, but I'll find you, son!” The Dark One screeched right before we started to travel back to the present.
