Hello readers! I'm sorry about the inactivity, I've been super busy with my IG account and testing kills my brain. Also, I'm terrible at updating. Yea so, sorry and hope you like this chapter!
Hiccup's P.O.V
I lead Merida to the barn where Toothless was. He whinned as we aproched. I grabbed his saddle, but dropped it.
Merida picked it up. "I got it. Just get the bridal."
I nodded and picked it up from the nail in the wall. Merida pulled the saddle a bit tighter and took the bridal. She put it on Toothless and helped me up. She got up in front of me and took the reins. Mom came rushing out with our packs and tied them to Toothless's saddle. She grabbed my hand.
"Good luck Hiccup." She said, with tears in her eyes.
"Good-bye mom. I'll see you again. I promise." I told her, gripping her hand tightly.
"Good luck Merida. Keep them safe." Mom said.
Merida smiled and leaned down the best she could to hug mom. "I will Valka. Good-bye."
Merida turned Toothless and started him down the road. I felt tears welling in my eyes. I turned around and waved to mom. She waved back, her other hand on her heart, until she faded from sight.
"You gonna be ok, Hic?" Merida asked.
"Yea, I'll be alright." I told her. "Hey, do you even know where we're going?"
"Philadelphia! It's our best bet!" Merida replied over the howling wind.

I felt my eyelids dropping and I struggled to stay awake. I gave in and let the darkness take over. The next thing I knew, I was falling off Toothless, and Merida was holding on to me and the reins.
"Hiccup! Hold on!" She said through gritted teeth. We tried to pull me back up, but we ended up crashing into the ground. Toothless nickered, as if he was laughing at us.
Merida stood up and offered me a hand. We brushed ourselves off, and Merida pulled off the packs. "We might as well stay here for tonight. It takes three days to get to Philadelphia, and you need rest."
"So do you." I shot back.
She smiled sleepily. "I guess so. Come on. Let's get set up camp."
It took us a while, but we set up our tent and tied up Toothless. Merida started a fire and I sat by her. We huddled close together to stay warm, and heat rushed to my cheeks as Merida wrapped her cloak around me. She rubbed my arms to warm me up.
"I'm fine Mer. Honest." I told her. I knew I hadn't convinced her when I saw a flicker of fear and doubt in her eyes.
"I just don't want you to freeze to death. I already caused one of your injuries." Merida said, still holding on to me.
"It wasn't your fault." I insisted. "And you saved my butt back there."
I thought I saw color flash in her cheeks. "I'm just glad you're ok." She yawned. "We should get some sleep."
We walked into our tent and got settled in our blankets. "Goodnight Merida"
"Night Hic." She replied.
Toothless nickered at me and nudged me knowingly.
"Oh shut up." I muttered, my face still red. I just couldn't get that fiery smile out of my mind.
To be continued....
