I could hear the pause in pencils and pens as the door swung shut behind me- typical.
However, I guess I couldn't judge since I too would look up every time something more interesting than Mr. Norman's voice not giving out half way through a lecture happened.
I just stared at my brown booties as I hurried to my seat in the front row, it only took me twenty seconds to pull out my chair and sit down- only the incessant squeaking sound my chair always made seemed to make it feel longer.
I saw expensive Italians shoes before anything else alerted my to his presence, "Do you have a tardy pass or are you always this late?" A masculine voice stated, instantly drawing everyone's attention.
I hated everyone's attention on me, I wasn't shy by any standards- I was just content minding my own business.
"No, sorry Sir- I slept through my alarms this morning," I whispered, frantically trying to open up my binder.
"Is that why you stopped to get coffee before coming to my class? Everyone else I didn't say stop writing, get back to it," He said while stooping down to my level.
"How'd you know I got coffee?" I stuttered out, not bothering to look at him."Besides the fact that I saw you at the gas station over an hour ago, your empty cup is on your desk. I'd also appreciate it if you'd look at my while I'm talking to you. I may not be the teach you're used to but I do demand respect," He drawled on in a bored tone.
"My coffee is not empty mind you, it's not even halfway gone," I replied while turning and looking him in the eye."It's empty now," He stated as he grabbed my coffee and stood up. "I also expect you to stay after school to make up the time you've missed," He stated in a direct tone that left no room for arguments.
"I can't," I blurted out.
He paused before turning back to me and resting his hand on my shoulder, "why not?""I have bible study.." I said drinking in his appearance.
He was incredibly handsome with well defined bone structure and chocolate brown hair that I wanted to run my hands through.I winced at my thoughts- I never had these kinds of thoughts, mainly because there was never anyone worth thinking about, but also because it went against my morals.
"Not tonight you don't, in fact you'll be missing your last class for talking back," He smirked as the bell rang- leaving me stunned and coffeeless.
