Chapter two

Artemis P.O.V

"We're home!!!" Athena and I screamed. 

Howls of our pack greets us and we smile. We walk into the kitchen and I guess I was too busy laughing at Athena to notice a guy sitting on the island as I go raid my fridge with my ass in the air. 

"That's one fine ass." a husky voice said.  

I snap up and growl aggressively as I turn to the owner. Then I drop my drink when I see it's the guy who came into my first period. I quickly whip out a dagger and hold it up to his neck. 

"Artemis! Stop! That's Alpha Axel!" my brother yelled. 

I freeze and drop the knife as I flip back and run to hide behind Apollo. 

"He made a comment about my ass." I said, a bit angry. 

"Why are you checking out my sister's ass?!" Apollo asked, faking anger. 

"I'm sorry, she had it in the air right in front of me." Alpha Axel replied. 

"He's got a point Art." Apollo said.  

"You are no fucking help." I said, pushing him to the side.  

"Damn girl, I haven't see that side since last week." Athena said, smacking my ass.  

Alpha Axel held back a growl as I laugh my ass off.  

"So, how does a girl who has yet to shift, kill two of the biggest groups of rouges?" Alpha Axel asked.  

"Well, Alpha Axel, you don't need to be in wolf form just to blow them up then slay the injuried." I replied with a sinister smile. 

Alpha Axel stares at me wide eyed as a group of children come running in.  

"Hey Artemis!" they said in unison.  

"Hey guys." I said, crouching down to their eye level.  

"Here you go. Happy birthday Artemis!" they said as the head of the group hands me a card.  

I gently take it in my hands and turn it as if it is very thin glass, then smile after I read the words.  

"Thanks guys! I love it!" I said, giving each one a kiss on the head.  

Then I crouch down and huddle with them.  

"Now, you guys gotta tackle soon to be Alpha for his birthday." I said, smiling evily.  

They smile and walk to Apollo. He just smile at them and then they just pounce on him. He screams like a little bitch and I double over laughing my ass off. When I stop laughing, a red face Athena helps me up while she giggles.  

"Wow, soon to be alpha screams like a bitch." Alpha Axel said, laughing.  

I turn red just thinking his laugh is very sexy. I excuse my self and went to my room to get ready for our sweet 16 party.

Axel's P.O.V

Her laugh is like music to my ears. The way she smiles when she is going to do something evil, or when she's happy, or caring, makes my heart soar. Everything she does or every part of her is just perfect. I stare at her as she talk to the kids and as she leaves. I don't stop staring till Apollo snaps his fingers.  

"Dude, you got it bad." he said.  

"Really? No one had fallen this bad?" I asked.  

"For my sister? Every unmated guy had, or still has." he replied, chuckling.  

I growl loudly and he stop his chuckling.  

"Sorry, every guy says she is just so sexy and a badass! Badass, yes, sexy, no." he said.  

I just roll my eyes and look at him. 

"Its gonna be tonight." I said.  

"I know, she'll shift but after she shifts back to human, she'll be in Heat too. Good thing you're here." he said.  

I nod as I feel my wolf smile happily. Apollo walks off and I walk to the living room. I was watching the others running around putting the final touches of the decorations when a bunch of kids run up to me. 

"Alpha sir!" a little boy said, tugging on my sleeve. 

"Yes?" I asked, crouching down to his level. 

"Did you get Artemis a gift?" he asked. 

"No, why?" I asked.  

"Its her sixteenth birthday, I was wondering if you did." he said before running off.  

I stand up and think for a while then slap my forehead.  

'How do you forget our mate's gift?!' my wolf yelled as I walk to find Apollo or Athena. 

Then I find Athena. I pull her to the side and she stiffens.  

"Alpha Axel." she said.  

"Athena, Artemis is my mate and can you please help me pick a gift for her? And keep it a secret!" I whispered with force.  

"Oh, she still hadn't notice? Well there this bracelet I've notice her look at everytime we pass it at Kay jewlers." she said.  

"Okay, come with me." I said.  

She follow me to my black Hummer and we get in. She direct me to the store and where the bracelet is. She shows me a charm bracelet withal heart, half gold half silver but the silver had a single diamond. I smile and buy it. I asked the saleswoman to wrap it up as a present and I drive back to Artemis' home.  

Athena and I make it back in time so I just slip the small box with the other presents. Then I join the others at the sides of the beautiful spiral stairs. We watch as Apollo walks down the stairs and join us. Then, the scent of strong sweet cattleya orchids fill the room and down comes Artemis. 

She's wearing a mid thigh white dress with a swirl design and buttons in the middle. She has a treble clef pendent with a crescent moon on the bottom hole, black stiletto and a black fadora in her head. Her hair, evenly separated on her shoulders and back. Her silver curls bounce as she makes her way down and I couldn't help but notice her curves. When she nears, I try really hard to keep keep hard on down so I just concentrate on her beautiful cat like royal violet eyes. 

She smiles at everyone and greets everyone before her parents rush her to eat. I sit close to her since I'm an alpha, right next to Apollo.  

"So, Alpha Axel, why are you here celebrating today with us?" Artemis asked.  

"Apollo is a friend of mine, so I wares to join the festivities today." I replied. 

She nods and continues eatting. After we all put everything up, the dancing begans. I watch Artemis all night just in case she starts to shift. Athena gave me a bag with clothes on it just in case. As the clock winds to midnight, the lights dim and a cake get pulls out.  

The stop the big cake in front of 'twins' and they close their eyes and make a wish. As they blow it out, the clock chimes midnight and Artemis starts to shake. She falls to her knees and cries out as I make it quick to her.  

She screams and cries as I wrap my arms around her and carry her bridal style. I feel her pain and my wolf howls in pain. I run outside to a big clearing and set her down. When I put her down, I hear her bones start cracking and snapping.
