Well... This Is Awkward...

I sigh and roll over a bit and search through the sheets theat I didn't bother to neaten, in order to change the song on my iPod. I end up giving up and simply pulling on the cord for the device to pop out of my pocket and onto the bed next to me. I shake my head at myself and change the song before rolling back over to continue the homework that I have due tomorrow. Suddenly I hear a knock on the front door and my father's heavy boots on the wooden floors. There is a woman's voice and the door close again... Must have been a door knocker.

I concentrate back on the sheets of file paper in front of me, but only for a second before I hear my father's gravelly tone.

"Ryan, my boy, could you come down here for a minute?"

He was being... nice. Did he hit his head? I make my way cautiously down the stairs, expecting to se a piece of wood or metal fly towards me but instead, there is a smiling family with my dad by the door. Maybe that's why the moving van was at the house next door. I knew that Mr. Birchridge blew his brains out but I didn't expect That people would move in so soon.

"Hi!" A chirpy woman with blue eyes and chestnut brown hair who I assume is the mother says to me. "We are the Parkers we just moved in next door, we came over here to give to a big hello"

Instead of a "big hello" I grant the woman a small wave and turn my eyes to the rest of the family the father, a tall man with salt and pepper hair and hazel-brown eyes, the small daughter, a girl of about six with dirty blonde hair and blue eyes and the son. He stands there, his skittle red hair flopping a little into his striking bluer orbs, his petite yet still fitting nose and plump soft looking lips. My eyes travel down his 5"6 frame to his Batman shirt and multicoloured belts and I smile at that, but not enough to notice. I eyes his black Converse before not being able to help myself any longer and flicking my eyes back to his azure ones. He is beautiful.

I'm too lost in his eyes to notice that he has caught me staring. His cute face goes almost the same shade as his hair and I realise that I looked .for too long. I feel my own face heat and I immediately turn my face to the floor and let my hair flop into my eyes.

Noticing the awkward silence, the mom speaks again. "I am Dianne, this is my husband Tom, our daughter Emily and our son Blayze" Blayze gives me a small wave and I feel my face heat up again, why do I feel this way? I don't even know the guy! He blushed cause he thinks I'm a freak. Snap out of it Ryan, he will never love you. You're just a piece of shit faggot.

I sigh at the thoughts that riddle my brain and continue to stare at my feet, as of they are the most interesting thing in the world. Someone clears their throat and my father starts to talk.

"So where will Blayze be going to school?"

"I'll be going to oakwood, sir" an adorable voice that I assume is his says.

"Hmm... That's Ryan's school, you could go together"

Obviously that conversation is over because the silence drops back over the room. Suddenly, though, there is a squeal and I feel small arms wrap around my legs and start to climb up my body. Shocked, I stumble back a bit and look down to the small girl- Emily I think it was?- Who is clinging to my midsection like death.

I hear a soft jingle of laughter and Blayze's musical voice fills my ears once more.

"Em, what are you doing to Ryan?"

The girl turns around and gives her brother a grouchy stare.

"I dibs him! You and Momma always dibs the cute boys first!"

Embarrassed, my face flushes once more but I have to admit that it is pretty cute.

"Hun, your six, you're too young to have a boyfriend"

Emily grimaces at him.

"We're going to get married when I'm ten! Duh!" She gives the boy an expression which says 'you knew this already' and turns back to me. "You'll marry me, right?"

This gets me flustered. How do I say no to a Six year old girl? You just can't, you can't.

"Uh... Uhmm... S-sure," I say, rubbing the back of my neck awkwardly. She squeals and wraps her short arms around my neck, partially choking me.

"Yay! See I told you! He's mine! All mine!"

Blayze chuckles and shakes his head and I just stand there, not knowing what to do with the tiny person that is still hanging from my neck.

"Uh, we were just about to order pizza if you want to stay for dinner?" My father offers, probably the only thing that he has done to get anywhere near being nice to me.

"We would love to, thank you" the father actually speaks for once, his voice deeper than expected.

"Ryan, why don't you go and take Blayze to your room and get to know him better?" I nod silently at this and start on the way up the stairs.

We arrive at the door and I open it for the smaller boy before entering also.

"I love your room!" Blayze turns to me with a brilliant, lip biting smile. I almost faint there on the spot.

"Um.. Thanks"

"I also love your accent, it's cute" he mumbles, flushing a little. This has me smiling lie a fool, I only met this guy but he's just... Wow.

"So getting to know me.... Hmm... Well, I'm Blayze, I'm 16, I love Batman, my favourite band is called Motionless In White and uh... My favourite food is pop-tarts"

"Um" I mumble "I'm Ryan, I'm also 16, I like Batman but I enjoy other superhero series, my favourite band is either Motionless In White or The Relapse Symphony (A/N if you don't know this band, and you like music like MIW or AA then you should check out this band, their only new and they need some love!) and um my favourite food is... Tacos?" I blush a bit at the way that my sentence ended an go to sit criss cross apple sauce on my bed, patting a spot beside me. He sits and looks at me with his puppy eyes, biting his full lip, making it look even more desirable.

"So tell me more about you" he says and we sit there and talk for almost an hour.

By the time the pizza arrives, we know pretty much all the basics about each other, favourite colour, band, food, cartoon and so on, just random things. One slice of pizza later, for me any way, They have to leave. Blayze smiles at me, one that I don't return and looks at my lips for a bit longer then necessary. I blush and look down as they walk back over to their yard.

As I lay in bed that night, cigarette between my index and middle fingers, I wonder why he looked at me that way, it's not as if he'll ever want me... Right?
