"But mom don't you think I am too young to get married. I want to have peaceful collage life and I want to fall in love first."
I was talking to mom while we were walking around the house for preparations. Yes I am getting married today in the evening with some total stranger. My day had a perfect start till the afternoon when dad came home and told me I was getting married today. I mean how can I get married to someone I don't even know. I have never seen him before.
"Mom. Are you even listing to me? I am your only daughter. How can you do this to me? Why is even doing th..."
"Stop it Sarah. Why are you making such a big deal out of it?"
"Because I am the one getting married here."
"But you are not getting married. Technically you are just getting your nikah done that's it. Just get nikah done and you will get married when ever you wanted to. This all is happening because of Jafar's grandmother. She wants to see her grandson get married before she dies."
"Why? Why me?"
"Because your dad is very close and a good friend of Mr. Saad."
"Why are you doing this to me?" tears form into my eyes.
"One day you will feel lucky about this decision in your life and Jafar is nice guy. I am hundred percent sent sure he will always keep you happy" after that she engross herself into work.
"As if" I said went to my room.
In the evening I reached the hospital with my parents. Over there every one was happy to see us. Jafar's grandma was happy too. By the time of nikah. I was nervous. I looked around to see Jafar but he was nowhere to be found. Little later I accepted my nikah and sign the papers in front of everyone. Cheers were around the hospital little room. When it was for the time for Jafar to sign the papers and accept the nikah, he entered in the room. Before I could even see him my mom told me lower my graze. And I did as I was told. I heard his voice. When everything was done. It took so much of courage within me to lift my head up to see my future husband but he spoke first. So I remain as it is.
"Dad I need to leave early" Jafar said to uncle Saad.
"But why son?" my dad asked.
"I am sorry but..." he paused. It was silence in the room. What was going on? I heard somebody walking toward the bed where I was sitting with my mom standing beside me.
"It's okay if he have to go. Thank you Jafar for competing my wish", said his grandma
"Anything for you babe" he replied.
How can he say babe to his own grandma but I think I was the only feeling weird about it and everyone else took it casually because they were laughing, including his grandma. After convincing myself for about thousand times, I was about to lift my eyes up but next words of grandma made me wash with the imagining bucket of cold water on me.
"Jafar a least look at you future wife for once." That word made me still in my position and worst was everyone was laughing making me sink into my stool. Within five minutes Jafar did salaam to everyone and was out of room.
Without a word spoken to me.
As if I care.
It was first day of my collage. I must say it was our fate that brought Jafar and me together again. I got admission in the collage as Jafar was doing his last year in the same collage.
"I am will so excited to see when you and your handsome Jafar meet or you know see each other," my best friend Iqra said.
"I have no idea about that and I don't even know if he is handsome or not. How am I going to talk to him when I don't even know him? I mean I have not even seen him. How will I know even if he passes by side? It's been a week since our nikah and we haven't even exchange our numbers."
