When Darcy suggested that they go into his office to gain a little privacy and so she could hide from the onslaught of people leaving Antony's meeting, who she believed were minutes away from judging her, Michael was actually quite glad to comply. Just kissing her and talking to her a moment before, had been the best time he had ever had at work and the most fun. He quite liked getting caught kissing his girlfriend, especially when it brought out her shy, sweet side and made her ask to be alone with him. It was one wish he would always be ready and willing to grant her. Holding her hand in his, he led her into the room and shut the door behind him. Michael was relieved to be alone with her, she had been tormenting him all morning, first with kisses and promises of more, then with telling him he was a predator, and how she felt about fighting her fears. She was constantly teasing him and so, he barely had to think twice about it as he crossed over to the sofa, still holding her hand and sank onto it, resting his head and feet against opposite armrests. "Michael...what're you doing?" Darcy giggled, wondering what crazy thing he was going to say or do now until he tugged gently on her hand and smiled to himself when she fell onto him, her balance thrown off by the surprise of his actions. "What's going on?" She asked softly, lifting the mass of hair back from her face with a gentle smile that Michael adored.
"Nothing." He lied, taking a single strand of her hair and placing it neatly behind her ear. He knew that, even if he hadn't already realised that he was in love with her, just looking at her then, seeing her smile and the sparkle in her eyes, feeling the sweet caress of her fingers trailing down his throat as she lay on top of him, perfectly happy to stay there, he would have known for certain. He couldn't get enough of looking at her, of seeing her happy, hearing her laugh and being the one to make her feel those things. He loved holding her hand and the way her hands, beautifully manicured into an elegance that oozed from her every pore, fitted perfectly into his. "I just want to look at you."
"So you don't want to kiss me?" Darcy teased softly, leaning over him just a little more as her mouth hovered above his, but he didn't even look tempted to kiss her, and she found it quite nice.
"Nope...just look at you." He admitted, holding his hands behind his head as his sweet girl snuggled in, laying her head on his chest with a gentle sigh that told him she was as comfortable as she could be, closing her eyes to the peaceful feeling as she touched her hand to his chest. "Amanda didn't upset you too much, did she?" Michael asked thoughtfully, still unsure of why, or even what she would have said to object to something she had been so excited over in the first place.
"No. She's just jealous." She sighed unhappily, annoyed that she not only had to deal with being judged, but with a jealous colleague who wanted Michael all to herself. It was so much more than Darcy had prepared herself for, but at the same time she should have expected it. The people he worked with got to be around him almost twenty four hours a day, with very little time away from him so it would only be natural to think that at some point, one or more of the girls were going to become attracted to him. Because as she saw it, it was impossible not to fall for him and his strange ways...it had only taken her a few moments to fall in love with him, never mind be attracted to him and she had been lost to it forever.
"I guess. But just because we're happy and she and Antony didn't work out, doesn't mean she can it out on you." He objected softly, knowing that although Antony had admitted that he wasn't going to be seeing Amanda, personally, anymore he had never given a reason for their so-called break up. And when Darcy giggled to herself and lifted her head to look at him, he wasn't sure what she knew that he didn't, but he loved the sound of it. "What're you laughing at?" He smiled up at her adoringly.
"Amanda's not jealous of us...she's jealous of me." She explained as sweetly as she could, now seeing another reason why the evil girl had been so bitchy towards her. Not only did he choose someone else to be his girlfriend, but he hadn't even noticed that she had a crush on him. "Michael...Amanda's jealous because she wants to get rid of me so she can be your girlfriend."
