(The girl in the picture is the main character, Jenny Gardner)
I woke up in the crisp November air rushing at my face. I was freezing, but I didn't want to go home.
In my house, it's just me and my dad.
My mom died giving birth, and my dad resented me ever since. She had me at 19, my dad was 20. He says I look just like her. I have dark brown hair, and big blue eyes. I have only seen one picture of her, and he's right, we both had the same eyes, and the same lips.
I only kept it for so long. My dad found it under my pillow, he ripped it, and the words "She dies because of you" ring in my ear everyday.
I must've cried for hours. He always made me feel worthless. It was around 9 in the morning, so I guess I wold have to go home for warmth. I climbed into the window, and fell onto my mattress.
The Next morning I came out of my room, to not find my father. God knows where he is. I search in the cupboard for any food, but of course, we only had beer.
"Great" I groan.
I decided to go to the soup kitchen again. I'm a regular there. On the menu was vegetable soup, and bread.
I get my food, and sit at the tables. After I ate my lunch, I store a couple pieces of bread, and leave to my house. As i'm walking home, I see my dads car in the driveway.I pray to god he's not drunk, but being as unpredictable as he is, I went through my window. I slowly opened my door, and seen him making pancakes; "Don't you think I would notice you're not in your room." He said.
"How could you, You're never home."
He slams his fist on the table. "Don't you get smart with me Young lady!" He yells.
I flinch as he yells; "I'm gonna cook these pancakes, and your not gonna bother me." He says.
"Whatever Daniel." I said.
"Damn it Jenny, why don't you call me dad or father?"
"Because you're not my father. Your just my sperm donor."
He rolls his eyes, "Don't give me lip."
I take my turn to roll my eyes, and go to my room. I look at the picture of my mom, I feel alot of comfort looking at my mom, like she's here taking care of me.
I looked nothing like my dad, thank god. He has light brown hair, and blue/grey eyes, but with my mom you could see light in her eyes, with my dad, there's nothing but darkness.
It was around 7pm, and I could hear him throwing his empty beer cans into a pile. "Jenny!" I heard. I jump, and get my backpack, he's pounding on the door, I quickly jump out my window the second he bursts into my room.
I run down the street, and go to my bench. I would go to a shelter nut lets be honest they're not any better than a bench.
As is i'm walking down the street, I see three guys. They all looked ant least a year or so older than me.
One had dirty blonde hair, and light blue eyes, he had a ciggerette hanging from his mouth. The another had black hair, and greenish eyes, with a black hoodie, the last one had shaggy brown hair, brown eyes, and a grey benie. I don't usually get scared, so I just brushed it off my shoulder, when I hear one of them yell, "Hey cutie! Come over here!" One of them yell, I ignore them, and walk in the other direction.
I hear somebody running towards me, I turn around, and one of them grabs me, "Lets go of me asshole!" I yell.
"Come on babe, we just wanna have some fun!" He said into my ear.
