Early next morning Sapphire rises from her deep slumber sitting up and stretching out her limbs. She gets out of bed eager to start the day, she's made up her mind she's going to leave, she's going to find them again the animals she remembers as a little girl running through the grass with her mother.

When Sapphire was little she distinctively remembers playing with what she thought were dogs. As a young woman she dreams of those specific moments in life, sure that what she'd seen and remembers was indeed real.

Getting dressed in her usual attire baggy clothes, sweat pants and her mothers hoodie as she descends the stairs, hoping that her father would be asleep. As she rounds the corner her eye catches the form of what would seem to be her father asleep in his chair a beer loosely hanging from his hand she carefully opens the door and walks outside on her way to school.

A thought plays through her head as she walks unsure of where to start her search, as a child her mother always took her a few hours south of Anchorage. She'd lived in Alaska her entire life as long as she could remember she'd seen the wintery snow fall and the sight of her breath as she walked. Unfortunately, she wasn't the best with directions and often found herself lost quiet easily when it came to searching for things. She could remember the children in school laughing at her when she would lose her pencil and clumisly looking for it only for it to be directly in front of her. She shakes her head of the embarrassing thought as her mind turns to Serena. The beautiful face fills her mind as she thinks of her dark red hair and deep, endless green eyes. The gentle and sweet giggle that left her lips as Sapphire stumbled with her words yesterday. She feels the tighteness in her chest as she finally reaches the steps leading into her school.

It was always Serena's duty to find her mate, fulfill her promise to her father and carry on the pack as it's leader. Of course she knew that without her mate by her side this would be increasingly difficult. She had her suspicions about Sapphire, the girl after all knew of the existence of werewolves albeit she didn't realize what they were yet. Alara gave her a stern look as she walked through the halls of their school. "You're doing it again boss." with a confused look she turns to Alara "Doing what exactly?" as they walk a few pack members bow to them in respect. Many who know Serena know that she is a kind alpha but can and will stand firm when the time calls for it. Alara chuckles while looking towards Serena "You're lost in that head of yours again, thinking of her again I'd guess?" with a nod Serena confirms her suspicions. For as long as Alara had known Serena all she could talk about was her mate this, and her mate that, had she not been best friends with the women Alara would of probably lost her mind. The discovery of her own mate some five years back had eased her mind on the subject. The subject of mates had always been touchy when it came to Serena as for awhile, recently anyway she was sure she'd never see her again after the loss of Sapphires mother all hope seemed lost. Until recently when Sapphire was suddenly enrolled into this school.

As they round the corner to go to class they look towards the class entrance and see Bethany and her group of cronies, giving Sapphire a hard time again from the short distance their at you can hear a small whimper escape her lips as her head whips to the side. Alara looks toward Serena as her shoulders tense up in anger she'd known Serena long enough to know that her previous warning to Bethany was serious and that she probably had just sealed her fate.

I hadn't made it maybe ten steps, before Bethany and her friends trapped me against the lockers again.

They pushed me again and again until I felt one of them slap me really hard making my ears ring. I groan in pain and as I look up, I see her in all her beauty but that beauty is replaced with fiery rage as Serena winds up with her fist and hits Bethany square in the head with a resounding smack she crumples to the floor holding her face.

Her friends quickly scramble her back to her feet as she cluches her face in her hands. A few onlookers watch as Serena helps me to my feet.

My eyes immediately diverting to the floor unable to look at her, I feel her fingers slowly move my face so that my eyes meet hers "Are you alright?" she asks me her voice laced with concern. I nod finding it hard to speak again she'd saved me and I can't bring myself to say a thing.

Sorry it took so long, I had some family visit and amidst all the chaos of the world managed to find some peace and quiet. Anyway here's the 3rd chapter let me know what you think.
