Getting off the bus and dragging my feet home, I walk through the front door and take iin my surroundings. My father is most likely asleep again and hopefully it stays like that.
My father, in recent years, hasn't been the greatest person in the world. Ever since my mom died, he's blamed me for her death, taking his frustrations out on me. The scars across my back and arms are a reminder of the pain he feels every time he looks at me. Mom died when I was very young. It was rainy, and they went for a drive. I guess they didn't see the eighteen-wheeler as it hit the side of my dad's jeep. Mom died instantly and they said she didn't feel it. My dad heard her screams as it happened; I think the moment he knew she really was gone, was when he changed.
My one chance for freedom is to go back to the campgrounds that my parents used to take me to when everything was normal, before the pain… before mom- "Hi there, sweetie, you're home early." His harsh voice fills my ears as his hands envelope my hair and he sniffa it before looking at me. His eyes are glazed, and his breath is horrible- you can tell he's been drinking. I shake off his hands and run upstairs.
His laugh echoes off the walls as I run searching for the solitude that is my room.
Climbing into bed, tossing the covers over my head, and shutting my eyes, praying this pain goes away.

I can feel her, I can feel every tear falling down her face; Sapphire is hurt. I don't understand the circumstances, but the pain runs so deep and her emotions are all over the place. My responsibilities as Alpha take precedence over anything and everything but when your mate is involved what are you supposed to do? Ignore the pain they feel or comfort them when they need you the most?
I can feel my wolf wanting out, she wants to destroy those who have hurt Sapphire, our gentle and innocent mate. My beta Alara walks into my office and looks at me with a blank expression as she says, "You know the entire pack can feel your anger, whatever is wrong with her you know she'll make her way to us in time." She assures me before closing the door. Alara has always been my closest friend, when I took over as Alpha, I was given the choice for who was to be my beta; Alara was at the top of the list. We've been friends for year-s we've fought together, trained together.
Something about the story Sapphire told in school today has me concerned. She talks about the legend of King Arthur almost like she knew the man himself. It's surprising how accurate she is with the information, given that most of it has been lost to time. A chuckle escapes my lips as I shake my head. There's no way she could be a descendant, could she? Nah, no way- his line perished with him, I'm sure of it.
In any case, there must be something I can do to lead her here to the pack lands so she can be safe from harm and whatever it is that's causing her so much pain. Standing up from my chair, I walk towards the door leading outside and I leap into the air, letting my beast come forward. She's covered head to toe, all black with blue eyes. It's been quite some time since I let her run loose. I think a hunt will do us good.
Running through the forest has always been like second nature to us, letting our primal selves come forth as we trail the forest searching for our pray. My beast stops sniffing in the air before letting out a sickening growl. Vampires. A lot of them start surrounding me from all directions and a few of them whisper amongst themselves.
"It's her yes."
"Don't let her escape."
"The queen will reward us for her head, kill her now."
I can't help but let the smirk play out on my lips as they charge and I let out a howl, signaling the nearby patrol. It’s time for some fun; the first vampire starts rushing forward and tries to take a swipe at me. She's too slow unfortunately and meets a quick decisive end, as my wolf takes a sizable chunk from her neck. The remaining few are quickly dispatched as my men come from all sides, disposing of them.
"Alara, are you hurt?" one of my hunters asks my wolf as she shakes her head, almost insulted. She slowly makes her way over to each body, sniffing them. These are from a coven close by; it’s time we destroy this coven once and for all. Although the question remains what Queen were, they talking about
