Carter "The Nerd"
How you meet:
Just another normal rainy Saturday at the library. My hair was pulled up into a ponytail on top of my head, while my glasses sat on the bridge of my nose. I was wearing white flats with black slacks and a white flowing blouse. I had just gotten off work as the receptionist at the hair salon across the street. Passing the librarian, who I probably saw more than my parents, I swiftly walked to the back where they kept the romance novels. My hands drummed along the spine of each book in my reach; if I could read them all, I would. I loved the silence this place held, it was perfect for your mind to wander so you could succumb to the grip of the book. Holding onto that feeling, I found the perfect book to read, "The Notebook By Nicholas Sparks". Oh I loved him; he is a great tearjerker.
Sitting down on one of the plush beanbags near the corner, I flipped the book open and started reading. My lips moved slightly as I read each line verbatim. The way every detail was perfectly placed in the book, made me want to be there. I let myself crawl through the imagination of the breeze hitting my face, or the way someone you love kissing you. Sighing contently, I bit my lip and focused even more on the artistic touch the book held. Unfortunately, the library isn't always perfectly quiet.
To the left of me sat two boys, one with his fingers weaved through his hair as if he would pull it out any second. The other was just as frustrated. Books were strewn across the table, notebooks were open in front of them and scowls played on their faces. From what I could see, they were working on school work and obviously having a tough time. One boy was blond haired with blue eyes; then other had rich chocolate brown hair, with eyes to match framed by black glasses. The brunette mumbled something under his breath, I noticed his eyes scan the book and watched as his pink lips moved slightly. He had some muscle, and was wearing a grey wife beater. A frown etched his perfect lips and his brow furrowed.
My curiosity got the best of me. I stood up, leaving my book at my seat and slowly made my way towards them. Both sat in their place, bickering quietly back and forth. Frowns plastered on their faces, both a little angry with the other. "Excuse me?" My voice was meek and quiet; I was always shy, even as a child. I guess I never got over it.
"What?" They both snapped at me. Startled, I jumped back grabbing the place where my now pounding heart sat in my chest. I'm guessing my eyes looked like a deer in headlights because both of their harsh glares softened.
"Sorry," the brunette spoke up. "We're just frustrated because he can't be tutored." He gestured to the boy across from him.
"Well maybe I could get it, if you would just slow down." They started to bicker a bit louder than before.
"Boys," my voice was barely above a whisper and they didn't hear me. "Boys!" I said a bit louder getting their attention. Smiling kindly, I sat down in the chair next to the blond. "Can I help? I'm a really good tutor."
"Sure." And with that said, we began to work. About an hour later we had finished the tutoring session, and Andy (The blond) had gone home with his work all done.
"You're really good at that." Carter spoke softly as he packed up his bag.
"At what?"
"Tutoring... you were really patient."
"I used to tutor my sister all the time."
"I had fun, (Y/N). Do you think we could hang out some time?"
Too frazzled to say anything I nodded my head and we traded numbers before going our separate was.
