-Kirara's POV-

Mary saw her and pursed her lips. The boy next to her turned and his eyes widened. Kirara grinned and felt Owen at the back of her mind. Her wolf groaned and snapped at him. Kirara internally chuckled. That served him right, they both thought. Her wolf was usually much more dominant.

"Oh," Mary called out, getting the whole caf's attention. "Look who it is. The new girl."

"Hi," She did the same, knowing that she would piss off the girl more than anyone would care to notice. She hated the bullies of life. "Who's this? Another one of your one night stands?"

"Ugh!" Mary yelled, furious. "And like you've never shopped around the town. Besides, a girl as ugly as you doesn't even have a shot at getting a one night stand. Better go start looking at the clearance isle."

"Mar," She deliberately shortened Mary's name to aggravate her. "Seriously? He's not even your type. Your type of the guy is the one who wants to get in your pants and do whatever you say. This one is not your type, believe me. Go check out your brother or something, idiot."

Mary's eyes widened. Everyone laughed and her face grew bright red. Mary huffed and the boy looked confused. The anorexic girl stalked off, her heels echoing in the silence. Owen butted into her mind again, and told her that they should hit the road. He sensed that an old 'friend' was nearing up.

She looked into the boy's eyes and they glazed over. She jogged out of the cafeteria and the kid followed obediently. She felt Owen following her at a distance. Once out of sight, Kirara took off her bulky sneakers and scooped the kid over her shoulder. She gave Owen a silent bye-bye signal through her mind. She took off with her supernatural speed. Today was about eighty-six or eighty-seven degrees. She could stand the sun, but not the heat. It got to her pretty quick.

Within about ten minutes she had slipped inside of her dark and cozy cottage. It wasn't exactly a cottage, but it made her think of one. Kirara dumped the kid on her cushioned couch and sat across from him. She proceeded to blow her hair out of her face again. The kid passed out on her couch and she groaned.

Kirara stood and walked into her room. She grabbed a hair elastic and a tank top. After a moment she threw them on, replacing her ugly tee. Kirara groaned and sat out on the chair across from the kid. She knew she could read his mind if she wanted. The sickly sweet scent of blood appealed to her nostrils and she could feel her fangs protruding into her lip. Ugh.

Kirara pulled out a thermos and drank from the sweet smelling liquid. Blood, dead blood, but it would do. Heat came to her face as she remembered that Owen had insisted on her having a thermos of wolf blood, just in case. A knock on the door caught her attention. Kirara smelled the air and froze. Her 'friend' was here. Janil.

"Yo," Janil called out. "Where the fuck are you, Kira?"

Kirara stood and opened the door after moving the kid upstairs. Janil stood there in all his glory. Janil was her half brother, or half blood brother anyway. It was always confusing. Janil usually acted like a son of a gun, but he was there for her when she needed it. Kirara just hoped that Janil wouldn't scent the boy in her house. Janil was a "free-feeder."

"Yo."

"Can I come in?" Janil pretends to ask as he barges in. "Same furniture, I see. I see."

She rolled her eyes as Owen jumped down from her roof. He gave her an apologetic smile and walked in slowly. Janil walked around muttering about how her decorating skills were still crap. She rolled her eyes and glanced fleetingly towards her bedroom where the unconscious boy was hidden. Owen blinked and nodded, going inside her bedroom. Janil slumped on the couch. His eyes narrowed as he looked at her.

She shrugged and tosses him a thermos of human blood. She had one or two thermos' on hand for occasions that another supernatural came by. She was the Alpha and the Tyr of the territory. Sometimes passing supernaturals would stop by. They were welcome to stay. Janil must of known now that she had had a human here by now. He would be pissed, but this was her town.

"So," He began. "Why'd a human come through?"

"He needed protection." She narrowed her eyes. "'Sides, why would you care? You know that mortals in this stretch are off limits."

"All I know," He muttered, baiting me. "Is that some vamp' is coming through here, killing every'ne in her way. Few southern cities have been demolished. She's heading north. Just thought I'd warn you. He's got a killer bite, if you know what I mean."

Kirara's eyes widened. Dad, she thought. Her father was coming this way? Slaughtering mortal's? Why? Questions swamped her mind, none of them making sense. Only one thing stood out in her mind, and that was Owen. Her best friend since childhood was in danger. He was only half wolf, and a weak wolf at that. He couldn't protect himself worth crap. She sighed and Janil disappeared, leaving the thermos on the stand beside the couch. She sighed and banged her head against her chair, making a loud thump.
