Staring at two different views on your window ledge

Coffee has gone cold, it's like time froze

I flicked the lighter on to light up the cigarette that's been in my mouth for the past few minutes.

Lipstick is starting to stain onto the cigarette.

My parents always warned me to stay away from the scary kids.

They told me to keep out from the cigarette box my grandfather always brought along with him.

It was unavoidable, really. Because high school taught me the shit I was supposed to keep myself out of.

I sat down on the chair near the window that looked like it was one feather away from breaking apart.

The first thing I noticed was that,

"It's raining." Gabriel told me.

I took no notice of him and took a long drag and exhaled the intoxicating smoke.

Wasn't rain supposed to be sad? Yet I felt emotionless. Numb.

The people on the streets were smiling, greeting each other with hugs. You couldn't miss them.

I stared blankly at the people outside.

"Sue did you hear what I said? Are you not even gonna pay attention anymore?"

There it was. The loud, booming voice I've got myself used to.

My toes curled inside my sneakers out of fear. I stopped exhaling the smoke and started coughing.

I felt hands wrap around my hair and I froze on the spot.

Suddenly the raindrops sounded more evident. The silence was deafening.

I closed my eyes and waited.

What did I do to deserve this?

Hello!

First chapter and it's looking fine. I think.
