Chapter 5

"Cam! Sam! You two better appear in front of me or else I will kick your balls in till they concave!" I yelled in anger as I cracked my knuckles and thought of the many horrible and violent things I can do to them when I see them.

Alex patted my shoulder in comfort, trying but failing to bay my anger. "Why don't you get ready for school? Search for the twins later."

I gave out a frustrated sigh and complied. "Fine, but if you are trying to protect them, I'm going after you next." I gave him a toothy smile that was all threat.

Alex nods and slowly moves back from me. "Alright. Now go or you'll have to miss breakfast."

Miss breakfast? Oh hell no. I rushed into my room and got ready as fast as I could, brushing my teeth while pulling my jeans on. I cleansed my mouth then slipped a random shirt on, which happens to be one of my old shirts from middle school. It's black with red scrawl of a rock band I went to without my parents knowing. Boy were they pissed when I tried, but failed to sneak into house from one of the open windows on the first floor.

The t-shirt was tight for me, but the reason is due to puberty. My breasts have grown, and I did grow a tiny bit. Now, the once slightly bigger t-shirt shows a bit of my belly, but it wasn't high enough to expose the belly button ring I got last year from a dare. It was a silver, coiled Chinese dragon, its teeth bared and claws ready to strike.

I tied my hair into a messy ponytail and snatched the old, worn baseball cap I had since I was in grade school, a gift from a friend who moved away not long after finishing third grade. It was dark red with the word "Rawr" in white bold letters. A black demon with sharp teeth, horns and a pointed tail grinned evilly next to the words.

With my backpack hanging off my shoulder, I sped down the stairs and dropped my backpack by the entry way of the kitchen, then slid into a stool where mom turned from the stove and slid me a plate of pancakes stacked high on the plate. She grabbed the bottle of maple syrup and handed it over to me. "Morning honey. There's whipped cream and other condiments on the table for your pancakes. If you want seconds, better tell me earlier."

"Coffee?" I asked hopefully.

She chuckled and pointed towards the just made brew of fresh coffee with her spatula. "Right over there."

I got up and kissed her on the cheek. "I love you so much right now."

"Better be forever." She teased then turned back to the stove.

I laughed and poured myself the life elixir called coffee, then headed back to my plate of hot pancakes just in time for Nate to come down, his body slumped as he trudged into the kitchen with drooping eyelids. "Why does school have to start so early in the morning?" He groaned as he took the stool next to me.

"Blame the adults who decided the school's schedules based more for their benefit than ours." I said inaudibly, my mouth full of pancake.

Nate's eyes brightened. "We're having pancakes?!" He exclaimed, eyes wide as he finally woke up with a burst of excitement.

Mom slid a plate of pancakes to him. "Yes and if you eat fast enough, you can have seconds before you leave."

Nate fist pumped. "Mom's the best!" he yelled before snatching the bottle of maple syrup and squirting a river of the brown sticky liquid, practically flooding the poor stack. Then he grabbed the whipped cream and turned the pancakes into a creamy mountain. He dropped some blueberries and chocolate chips on his plate, then drizzled honey before he dug into his man-made heart attack.
