"Can you both please explain what that was," my mom says, placing her hand on her forehead. The two of us stayed silent, waiting for her to continue.

"Well ma'am, when two people are in love--" Zach started.

"Zach Mitchell," my furious mother scolded as her rage grew. I imagined fire coming out both ears as her eyebrows slanted to show how angry she was, just like in the childhood cartoons I watched.

I stayed quiet unlike Zach who was about to again spit out a remark that would make my mother angrier causing me to quickly shove him in the side.

"Ow. What was that for--"

"I'm not going to lecture you, tell you how wrong it is because you guys aren't children anymore. But seriously Arielle, I expected more from you."

"She didn't do anything ma'am. It was all on me," Zach defended, noticing my demeanor slump in hearing my mother's disappointment. I never liked when my mom was unhappy with me. I spent all my life trying to please her because at the end of the day, she was the person I've always looked up to, and always will.

"No mom. It was on me too. I just--I don't know," I explained, rubbing my forehead.

"Well, I expect this won't happen again?" she said, looking from me to Zach.

"No promises--" Zach started but I was quick to cut him off. He really needed to shut his mouth sometimes.

"Of course."

I cut him off.

"Good," she spoke, glaring playfully at Zach.

"Now shoo," she concluded, gesturing to get away from her before Zach and I made our way upstairs.

--

"So, let's go somewhere," Zach spoke up, grabbing my phone from my grip and throwing it onto the bed, far away from my reach.

I rolled my eyes and went to get the device before Zach quickly tackled me onto the other side of the bed and pinned me down.

"Where?" I asked. "It's like--" I looked at the clock. "1' o clock," I finished.

"So?" he asked, looking at me like I was crazy.

"My mom's not gonna let us out the door. It's past midnight."

"Who said we were going through the door?" he questioned, raising his eyebrows and waiting for me to catch on.

"No Zachary Mitchell. I am not sneaking out," I whisper shouted.

"YOU aren't sneaking out. WE are."

"Okay shut it Stephen Hawking," I murmured.

"I didn't know you had a thing for older men," he winked, helping me off of the bed. He knew I would sneak out with him either way. I was a love-struck puppy for him and even though I wanted to deny it, I couldn't.

"I didn't know you were a pedo," I retorted, snorting at his offended face.

"Hey, it's not like you were being forced to--" he started but I cut him off.

"How are we gonna do this?" I questioned.

"Jump," he shrugged like it was an obvious answer.

"You do realize, we're upstairs...right?" I questioned, laughing nervously.

"Duh," he replied, hopping on the window sill and pulling the glass up.

"No Zach I don't think--"

Suddenly, I was rushing towards the green grass and falling to my death.

I quickly straightened out my knees and landed.

Getting myself together, I registered what just happened to me.

"Zachary Mitchell, did you just push me off?" I scolded, as I felt myself growing angry.

The cheeky boy chuckled, scratching the back of his head and avoiding eye contact.

"Maybe."

"I'm. Going. To. Kill. You."
