"KASSIE. WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU!" Of course. Like she didn't have enough stuff to worry about. "Great you're drunk again. Where's your husband?" She came stumbling in before falling onto the couch in the living room. "Get me water", she mumbled.
"Get your own damn water lady. I actually have to go to school. You know the thing you dropped out of?" Nice one. "You're grounded ya little bitch." Kassie yelled down the hall for Camie. The school bus would be there for them any minute now. She saw Camie walking down the hallway with her books in her  hand and her makeup on her face. Girly girls. Yuck.
Camie was one of the only girly girls she could handle. She still didn't get how she could put herself out there. She had a lot of friends in her middle school. She was like Ms. Popular at school but at home she was this totally different person.
Kassie opened the door and walked outside. "Tif is drunk", Kassie said as soon as Camie shut the door. "You think I don't know that? When is she not drunk?" The two girls started to giggle but they knew it wasn't funny. This wasn't a game to them. "She came home without Rob. He's probably out having sex with some young girl", Kassie said.

"Okay class today we will be reviewing the war of 1812". History class was so boring. Out of all her classes this was the class Camie hated the most. "Camie can you tell me why we went to war with Great Britain?" This douche. "Umm, we didn't?" How was she supposed to know the answer. It's not like she was paying attention. No one in the class was paying attention. The boy next to her was asleep but he wasn't asked a question.
"I'm sorry Ms. Green but that answer is wrong". The whole class laughed, well except for the boy next to her.

"Hey C." Claire. She was the most annoying girl in the entire school. "Uh hey Claire what's up?" "Oh nothing much...whatcha reading?", she said as she reached over to look at the cover of Camie's book. "Seriously Claire? What's the point of asking if you're not going to wait for me to answer the question? I mean seriously I'm not trying to be rude but I'm the only one sitting in the corner. There's a reason for that." Camie got up and walked outside.
She needed the fresh air. She walked over to the giant oak tree in the school yard and sat down on the wooden bench. Maybe now she could read some Nancy Drew without interruptions.
She read three chapters before someone started to walk over to her. Just great. "Hey Camie. Reading more Nancy Drew?", he said as he towered over her.
He was taller then Camie, even while she was standing up. He had blonde hair and the brightest green eyes. All of the girls in eight grade had a huge crush on him but not Camie. He was her best friend since sixth grade and he was the biggest nerd ever.
"What does it look like Sam?", she asked before closing her book. He laughed,"It looks like you're reading a book", he said before pointing to it. "Not anymore", she laughed. He shoved her playfully. "So do you have any dates tonight?", he asked playfully. Sammy was the only person who knew that she hated going on dates with guys. She'd rather be reading.
"Hahaha real funny Sam." "Hey it's a serious question. I wanted to know if you want to come to my house and play video games with me after school." "Oh well it depends on the game we're playing." "We can play whatever game you want to play Cam. You know that." He said right as the bell rang.

*hey I'm gonna hang out at sam's house after school.
*kk I'll tell tif. Make sure you have a ride home cause my car isn't fixed yet. *okay see ya

"Hey you ready my mom is here." Sammie pointed to the blue ford. Camie picked her books up and followed after Sammie. He was walking fast because his legs were so freaking long. Once they reached the car he opened the back seat for her and got into the front seat.
His baby brother was strapped into the seat. "Hi Camie", Sam's mom said as she put the car into drive. "Hi Ms. Hanson", Camie said before tickling Zack. He was three years old and he was probably the cutest thing Camie had ever seen. He giggled and tried to tickle her back. "So what did you guys learn in school today?", Ms. Hanson asked. "I learned that we did actually go to war with Great Britain in 1812", Camie said quickly.

Sam shut the basement door as Camie put her books down. Sam went over to the huge tv that was in front of the tiny couch. Camie felt at home as she sat down on the couch. Sam handed her a controller and they started playing Fifa.
"So I'm surprised that you didn't have a date today.", Sam said before getting a goal. "Well I don't see why," Camie jerked her controller back," You know I only go out with them just to be nice." She looked over at Sam. His face was lit up from the tv and she could see all his facial features. His bright green eyes and how his hair fell in front of them. How his thick brown eyebrows stood out underneath his blonde hair... "GOOOOOOOOAL", he yelled as he threw his hands into the air," come on Camie it's like you aren't even trying!"
Camie won thirty minutes later 5-4. Sam put his controller on the table and turned to her. "So Nick didn't ask you out? He was bragging about how he was going to ask you out in second period." "No I told you already Sammie nobody asked me out and even if someone had I would have said no. I'm done being nice for now." She looked over at Sam but he quickly looked back at the screen. "Sammie", she scooted closer to him on the couch,"what's wrong?" "Nothing Camie." He looked over at her and she realized how close their faces were. She felt his breath on her lips. They both looked back at the screen. "Um Camie?" "Yes Sammie?" "Why don't you actually date?" "I don't need to. I don't like anyone at school." Sam picked up his controller and started another game.
