It's been weeks since I spoke to Gitch but I can't stop thinking about her. There's something about her that I just can't put my finger on.
"Alrighty then you heep of apes." I was brocken out of thought when the sports teacher came in clapping his hands together.
"Today we're playing basketball or your setting up the oval for the year sevens running sports."
He said and I would have jumped in glee if I could when he said basketball.
"So who's playing basketball!" He yelled and I few hands shot up, including mine.
The class went dead silent and everyone was staring at me.
"Pat, what are you doing?!" I heard Assi whisper next to me but I ignored her.
Mr. Saif raised his eyebrow at me.
"Are you messing with me?" He asked sounding annoyed.
"No, sir." I said sternly slightly offended.
The kids who play basketball began laughing followed by the teacher. But out of the corner of my eye I could see Gitch smirking at me.
"Fine then. Let's see what ya got." Mr. Saif said calming down from his laughing fit.
I grinned happily.
These idiots surrounding me were not aware of the fact that before the 'accident' basketball was my passion. And after I was put in a wheel chair it did not stop me. I trane 4 nights a week and I am the best wheel chair basketballer in my club. And I've already won heaps of games against idiots like these so there no problem here.
I glanced back over at Gitch who's face seemed to say she knew something.
I wheeled out into the coart with everyone else as Mr. Seif put us in teams.
"Right. Ah. Pat, your in red." He said handing me a red sash.
Some of the red team groaned out load. But others did it under their breath but I could tell.
We got ready and Mr. Seif blew the whistle.
It wasn't long till I already had the ball. Dribbling it beside me I used the other hand to spin my wheels towards the other end of the court. One of the boys tried to block me and I 'accidentally' ran over his foot and thankfully it went unnoticed.
I reached the other end pulling back on my wheels to stop them. The sound of rubber scraping against the floor echoed through the stadium. I lined myself up while everyone was still in shock. Using my arm strength shot the ball upwards towards the hoop. The ball balanced on the edge for a second the fell through and I heard Assi screaming soon followed by the rest of the class.
After that the game went well. We won and I made sure to rub it their faces.

Giggling with Assi we left the stadium.
"That was amazing!" She said once we were outside.
Once we got to her locker she stopped.
"I'm buying you a congratulations lunch!" she said pulling out her purse.
"Seriously?" I said thinking it wasn't that big of a deal.
"Yep." She said starting to push me toward the canteen. But I smashed my fist into her hand to stop her. She knew I hated being helped. It was part of my unacceptance thing, same with basketball.
Because I feel like if accept the fact I'll never walk again it would be like losing all hope.

We got our lunch and sat with everyone at the table. Assi wouldn't shut up about last class even though I kept saying it wasn't that big of a deal.
Lunch seemed to fly past and the bell went for class.

I had art without Assi so I started heading toward the art room by my self. But had to go around the back way because of stairs.
The back way was basically a gravel path behind the portables out of view of any windows. It was shadowed by trees from every angle and smelt strong of smoke.
I hated having to go through there. It shouldn't even be a place, it's such a perfect place for smokers and sketchy people, you'd think the school would do something about it.

I had just left the safe cement path and gone onto the gravel when I got that horrible feeling of being followed. I glanced over my shoulder but saw no one.
But I was slightly more wary now as I turned the corner onto the path.
I sighed seeing no one else there. It's really uncomfortable when there is, they either just sit and stare at you the whole way or stand up to look more intimidating.
I stopped day dreaming when I heard gravel behind me. I flicked my head around to see 4 boys walking towards me. 3 of them I recognized from the basketball game but the 4th wore a beany down low on his face so I couldn't see who it was.
I should have expected this. "Obviously getting 'smashed' by a paraplegic is a bigger deal than I thought". I said continuing down the path.
"Yeah and a girl too." One of them snarled.
"Oh please. Its the 21st century. If you hadn't noticed girls are kicking your asses." I snorted still not making eye contact.
"You made us look like fools today!"
"Yep" I said and before I knew it I was flung around and amazingly my wheel chair didn't topple.
I was now face to face with Daniel the sports captain.
"Sorry but that's not okay with us!" He said, an extra snarl with the 'not'.
"Aw poor saw loser." I said sticking out my bottom lip.
"Let's see just how crippled someone can be!" The voice made me freeze.
"H-Huc?" I said but before I knew it a fist was hitting my cheek with great force and my hand flew to my face.
"What the f-" I was broken off when one of them tipped over my wheelchair and I fell onto the ground. Hitting my head on the ground as I did.
Everything was spinning but I could see them all standing over me.
A pain then shot from my arm as one of them kicked me and I grabbed my arm.
"Sto-" the wind was blown out of me as someone kicked me in the stomach.
My eyes got blurry as tears started forming.
"Who's the saw loser now?!" Daniel yelled in my face as he pulled my head off the ground with my hair so our faces were inches away.
He then slammed his fist into my jaw and I tasted blood.
My head span and my vision faded. I could feel someone kick me again but then I blacked out.
